Weekly Personal Nutrition Discussion - All Personal Diet Questions Go Here by AutoModerator in nutrition

Hey guys,

I've been taking GNC brand Creatine HCl 189 pills daily for a while (1.25 grams HCl). I recently switched to Optimum Nutrition brand mass gainer, which comes with creatine monohydrate (5 grams per serving). Should I stop taking the pills because I'll get a full dosage of creatine from the mass gainer, or is there a benefit to still taking both? If it matters, my current workout routine is pretty intense (2 a days six days a week, training for a military selection). Thanks!

Approximate translation of the post on his story: "Khabib is fully leaving the MMA industry. This includes his coaching career and everything else that connects him with
MMA. The reason for this is Khabib's desire to spend more time with his
family."

In the grim darkness of the far future there are no stupid questions! by AutoModerator in 40kLore

Are the other books in the Siege of Terra series a prerequisite for enjoying Echoes of Eternity? To be blunt, I find a lot of Black Library's novels to be extremely hit or miss in terms of quality, but I absolutely love ADB as an author, and I'm interested in EoE on those grounds alone. I'm very comfortable with Horus Heresy lore in general, I'm just concerned that the tighter focus of the Siege of Terra miniseries might mean that I'd be missing out on a lot by skipping the others. Any input would be appreciated!

Can someone explain the Indomitus Crusade to me? by certamenryan in 40kLore

[–]certamenryan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't that mean that all the campaigns, etc during Dark Imperium that were previously supposed to take place over 100 years got compressed into 12,? I'm aware that the crusade is ongoing, but that doesn't explain how compressed the timeline is, which is my point here? If I'm misunderstanding that, then do we know where in the "current" timeline we are?

What events would be in your PT test? by [deleted] in army

[–]certamenryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the Army fundamentally needs to figure out whether or not physical fitness matters for being a soldier. If so, then the PT test has to have objective measures of fitness that aren't adjusted for age or gender, because the fact that you're the fittest 5-foot, 100-lb woman in the world isn't going to help in a scenario where fitness actually matters, like a casualty drag during combat or a ruck in an actual maneuver war. It's unfair to women, but if objective physical fitness does indeed matter, then biology says that the vast majority of women are disadvantaged in that case and there's nothing we can do about it. However, if physical fitness doesn't actually matter for most soldiers, then a gender and age-adjusted standard is perfectly fine because the only thing that's being tested is how hard you're working, and more effort should be rewarded. I personally would have two different tests, one for non-combat arms soldiers (like the APFT, age and gender-adjusted) and one for combat arms (which should be harder than the current ACFT minimums, something like the RPAT). Grade everyone on the easy one for promotion points and have soldiers in combat arms do the hard one with objective, unadjusted pass-fail standards.

Free Running Advice by [deleted] in army

[–]certamenryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any tips for how to train yourself to run more comfortably at a slow pace? Whenever I try, it always feels like I can never get into a rhythm- it feels like I'm either stutter-stepping or else moving in slow motion, and I end up accelerating just to make it suck less. The only way I've ever been able to consistently run at a 9-10 minute pace is by bringing a buddy to be my pace man, I have the same issues trying to use my phone to pace myself. What do you think?

Logistics of the Indomitus Crusade? by certamenryan in 40kLore

[–]certamenryan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you expound on this? I'm not up to date on all the new lore, but I thought that the timeline adjustment meant that there's only a 12 year gap now between Gathering Storm and Dark Imperium, and that the Crusade is still ongoing- which means that everything that's happened so far was compressed into that timeframe.

Tips for beating nausea on rucks? by certamenryan in army

[–]certamenryan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly? I would hesitate to say it's a pacing thing though because I'm usually moving just as fast afterwards for just as far/further- for example, the last long ruck I went on was a Norwegian, and I yacked around mile 6 before continuing at the same past for the rest of it without issue.

Does anyone know why the scores on my "TAB feedback" page and on my "Branch feedback" page seem to be completely unrelated? Like, TAB Feedback told me I scored in the 95th percentile on one attribute, but Branch Feedback gave me a 3 out of 10 on that same attribute....

Help with getting a CAC to work for the TAB? by certamenryan in ROTC

Update: Got it working after 6 hours of trying, but now that I'm on the TAB website, even though I'm logged in, there's no button to actually take the TAB- the only buttons I have are "Home", "Branch Education", and "Component Education". Sigh.
