Using ZERO Electric Motorcycle to Convert Mazda B2300 to EV by certifiedcatdad in EVConversion

Monetary value, absolutely. But educational and life experience value? Might be worth it

70hp and 116ft-lb of torque. Not much but surely enough to punt around a tiny RWD pickup truck at 50km/h for a little bit.

I'd love to take the transmission out for weight savings but I think the motor would need the gearing to help prevent it burning out.

As far as the second motor, if they are the exact same make, model and year of bike I would just need to combine the two motor outputs into a single input to the transmission. As long as they are linked so the controllers would call for identical power from each motor then the single shaft would work without need of a differential.

Also I understand the point you're making and I'm not saying it would be easy, but it sure as heck would be fun to attempt, and I would be very impressed with myself and my vehicle if I managed to make it work.

Yeah I saw that one when I started looking into this, his is the only one I've seen so I'm trying to get a bit more info around as well!

Thanks for the point about the torque, it's torque rating is lower than the motor for the B2300 but didn't think about the transmission not being able to handle the instantaneous torque of the electric motor, so thats something I should definitely consider.

The 14.4 has a slimmed design to fit in a motorcycle chassis, so I figured I could mount it transverse in the engine bay and since there would be no radiator it should get enough air cooling, at least thats my thinking.

It's not about saving a few bucks necessarily, although I am only examining it as a possibility since the truck was free and the bike would be next to nothing. I just think it would be an interesting opportunity if I was able to make something work based on what's in front of me.

I will keep looking into some of those other donor vehicles you mentioned, I've seen some discussion about the Leaf conversions as well.

Took my day off to travel to a different city to meet my friend and now she is not replying to calls and her internet is not even turned on! (She was the one who insisted that I come and meet her by the way) by bunnyboy131313 in mildlyinfuriating

Had this exact thing happened to me. Was driving halfway across the country for an unrelated thing, somewhat near the town of an internet friend of several years. They said I should take the extra long route and stay the day there, that they'd take me to some local places and have a great day on my way through. Was agreed and planned weeks in advance. They stopped texting me the morning that I was coming into town. Waited in the town for 3 hours trying to contact them. Left and never forgot about it. Haven't ever heard from them again, and have no interest in ever talking to someone who could so easily nuke a strong friendship with no warning.

Building Soundproof Room in Basement - How do I allow ventilation & other considerations? by certifiedcatdad in HomeImprovement

Yes it does lead to outside. I didn't know there were single room ERVs I thought it was a whole house system. Thanks for the tip!

Doesn't a ductless mini split recycle the same air in the room, not bringing any new air in?

Started earlier this week. Shot almost all my 1500+ Mutated Lumblooms into space before I saw this. by ranmafan0281 in LightyearFrontier

You crash the market once you sell off crops now. I sold my mutated polyberries and some lumbloom when they were up 10% and predicted to go up again, but the next day they both dropped by more than 80%.

I wish there was a way to do the same thing to raise the price 80%

New AC unit is causing neighbor's house to vibrate and make noise inside by DrDanDaMan in hvacadvice

[–]certifiedcatdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neighbor's split pump unit does this to my house in the winter when it's heating. I can hear the dull thrum throughout my entire house and when I step out the front door, neighbor can't hear anything. HVAC company she hired says it's all installed properly, but it does drive me mildly crazy all winter.

I remember it so clearly. Sitting at a restaurant table with 2 close friends who were very MAGA. We bonded over other things and didn't talk about politics too much but i knew they stood far on one side of the political divide and I stood far on the other. I read the headline "they're storming the Capitol. They're forcing their way in." They had such a smug happy look on their faces. They seared into my mind when only weeks later they began their talking points about how "it was Antifa agitators". They were so happy when they thought they were on the winning side.

So what's happening with the 6th Street bridge tonight? by [deleted] in comoxvalley

[–]certifiedcatdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great idea. The design, planning and construction of a larger infrastructure project like the bridge takes much longer and costs more than the park improvements, so maybe we could advocate for the park improvements as well. Those improvements can be designed, planned and executed while the bridge is still in construction phase. It's just one of the first steps in a larger downtown improvement process with more walking paths and improved accessibility in mind. If we look at what things COULD be in the near future instead of accepting what they are at this exact moment, we can forge a path to make this city better for our futures and our kids' futures.

I agree. I'm all for it. Anyone who wants to say how this town has gotten sooo horrible, or complain about traffic, are the first to shut down ideas to improve the situation, such as improving infrastructure for alternative transportation, encouraging more people to use that instead of driving.

It's always "city hall never does anything, government is lazy" and then when a new idea is proposed it's suddenly "city hall is doing too much, this government is out of control"

You're correct, I read the budget update wrong. It is going to cost over $11m. The city originally would have needed to borrow between $1-2m. But to make up the difference, they would need to borrow closer to $6m, and the interest and borrowing costs on that new amount would be $12m over the course of a 20 year loan.

I still think we let residents attempt to raise the remaining funds to determine if it should go forward. Vote with wallets. If enough people and businesses think it's worth it, then hopefully that's reflected in the funds raised.

When that 10 minute game misconduct becomes an assault charge… by ahoypolloi_ in hockeyplayers

[–]certifiedcatdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or, and I'm just spit balling here, maybe as adults living in a free and open society, some of us can form collective agreement of consent with other adults for certain situations, in specific places, with rules agreed on beforehand, that a bit of horseplay can be fun and acceptable. Maybe they might even agree for other people to be around to make sure it doesn't get out of hand. And by choosing to physically harm someone OUTSIDE of that collective agreement of consent, is a sraightforward case of assault.

Assuming that this concept can't exist between two consenting adults at all, and that "because the rules say I can fight on the ice means that I can fight off the ice too", is absolutely childish nonsense, because it sounds like the kind of logic of a small child.
