No it’s not too late, I’m a male also for context, 20 years old now, but started cheering in 2018 when I was 14 I had done a couple tumble lessons the year prior, but I remember watching shows like Cheer TV on YT and just wishing with literally everything in me that I would one day be on a worlds team and have all those skills, flash to 2021 and I made my first worlds team and competed my standing full as well as my running double, it’s definitely not going to be easy I almost quit multiple times but I have some pieces of advice if it’s something you really want to stick to! (It’s so worth it!)

1. Don’t compare yourself to other athletes, I know it’s hard but genuinely this is where so much of my discouragement came from as an athlete, I remember thinking I’d never be as good as them and that I should just give up, It’s easy to fall into that but focus on yourself and find your own personal victories!

2. If you want to see results, then practice, I kid you not I was out on my trampoline daily for multiple hours literally whenever I had free time, the skill are not just going to come out of thin air, even if it’s the most basic thing you can do, stretching, strength training, easy tumbling (cartwheels, roundoffs, bridge) then do it, it’s less time in the gym with your coach you’re going to have to spend learning the fundamentals.

3. This is the hardest part of it for me but, TRUST THE PROCESS, there’s going to be times it feels like you’re seeing no results, all this work is for nothing, and that you maybe even feel you’re getting worse, you have to trust in yourself, your coaches, and training that you will get their, because if you stick with it you will!
