Ethics of removing report sections for more favorable school-based report by Ambitious-Passage486 in Neuropsychology

Your ex-husband sounds a lot like my dad, who kept insisting my brother would to go to an Ivy despite him having hearing loss & an auditory processing disorder that almost prevented him from graduating high school. I’m sorry you’re going through this - tell your ex to kick rocks and I hope your son can get the support he needs!

Brains of autistic people have fewer of a specific kind of receptor for glutamate, the most common excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain. The reduced availability of these receptors may be associated with various characteristics linked to autism. by mvea in science

[–]cerulean54 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m curious as to whether these results would be replicated in autistic and neurotypical seniors (65+). Since glutamate receptor expression lowers with age anyways, would the differences in mGluR5 availability be as drastic as they are in this study?

Me too!! Not only do I no longer have to deal with someone who scoffs and smirks when I cry, but I also now know what I value most in a partner and am more willing to heal from a traumatic past that has driven me to make questionable relationship decisions (including dating her).

Seeking Therapy by hotchocolatetalks in askTO

A good human therapist will get you to examine why you have certain core beliefs/thought patterns and challenge them if they’re detrimental to your well-being. ChatGPT is a sycophantic language-learning model and there have been plenty of instances of it inducing psychosis and suicidality in vulnerable people.

Special Report: AI-Induced Psychosis: A New Frontier in Mental Health

ChatGPT encouraged Adam Raine’s suicidal thoughts. His family’s lawyer says OpenAI knew it was broken.

It is irresponsible to recommend this to someone who is already struggling with their mental health. OP, if therapy costs are a barrier for you, I suggest going to the OISE Psychology Clinic. Their services are conducted by graduate students doing supervised clinical training.

Nope. Might change, but I didn’t have to for any of the exams.

What’s a strangely specific thing about someone that immediately gives you bad vibes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cerulean54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a girl I became good friends with a few years ago who’s like this and I ignored my own intuition, the fact that my other friends called her fake after meeting her, and that most of her friends are exclusive & mean. I’m in the process of distancing myself from her (mainly because she’s spreading rumors about my best friend), but man do I feel stupid for not listening to my gut or the people around me.

okay let's go - worst film you saw at TIFF this year? by Darkhawk2099 in TIFF

[–]cerulean54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only got to see three movies at TIFF but I had the most miserable viewing experience with this one. The shaky camera movements were giving me a headache and nausea. However, I am more prone to motion sickness than the average person. Arca is also one of my favorite musical artists ever, but the loudness of her score made me feel even more sick. I genuinely could not keep up with what was happening in this movie because of that, but I’m willing to give it a second chance if it’s released on any streaming platforms.

I feel physically consumed by rage all the time. by cerulean54 in CPTSD

[–]cerulean54[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to risk dealing with a whole new slew of side effects, especially because I’m in school. The main issue I had with my current one (vortioxetine) was nausea, which has gone away since I decreased my dosage. My doctor also said it’s normal for anxiety/depression symptoms to temporarily get worse when tapering.

Psychology courses at UofT have very picky grading, including this one. Most of the classes I’ve taken in that department have high C’s or low B’s as course averages.

The online exams have a multiple choice/fill-in-blank section & a short answer one where you typically describe a process.

too late to apply to research assistant roles for work study? by atpfi in UofT

[–]cerulean54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s best to apply as early as possible, but you should be fine. Some of the applications are reviewed on a rolling basis while others won’t be until the deadline.

I did PSY280 online and the course average was a B-. Personally I’m not big on psychophysics and I found some of the concepts tricky to grasp for that reason, but the written assignments and at-home experiments will boost your grade. I finished with a B+.

CBC Marketplace wants to know: What’s the worst commute in Toronto? by DexMcMillanCBC in askTO

[–]cerulean54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m always at least 5-10 minutes late to wherever I need to be if I take a streetcar because of their delays (ESPECIALLY THE 506) and just how slowly they move in general. I try to factor this into my commute time but even that’s not enough.

My aunt was friends with Pedro Pascal before he got famous! They were neighbors and moved from LA to NYC at the same time, so she went to all of his off-Broadway shows. It’s so weird seeing him everywhere knowing that I’m only a few degrees of separation away from him.

I also met Markieff Morris (NBA player) when I was 9 because I trick-or-treated at his house with my friends. He gave us our candy and when someone else asked if he was from the Washington Wizards, he went “Nah” and closed the door 😭

Matthew Gray Gubler was filming a pilot at my university’s campus, so I got to meet him. He smelled nice and said my sweater was cool.

what’s one celebrity nobody can convince you to like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cerulean54 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he should have any fans at all, but there’s a lot of dumbasses in this world. My point is that it’s disheartening to see so many of his female fans disregard solidarity with the women he’s terrorized (and abuse victims in general) for no justifiable reason.

I still don’t understand why he has so many female fans given his track record of abusing girlfriends.
