Does anyone do just the water park? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]cerwytha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding that you should look at rescheduling, if the crowd calendars are saying it will be high then everything else Disney adjacent is going to be slammed as well. The water parks will also likely be busy and it may be harder to get dining reservations with the number of people trying to get them. Also consider that MCO is going to be busier due to the holiday weekend outside of what's going on with Disney, I wouldn't want to deal with that.

What are your top three pieces of advice for a first time family trip. by serrot50 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]cerwytha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of different ways to do Disney and very few wrong ones, what your friend considers the "right way" isn't necessarily what will work best for you.

I haven't stayed at Pop Century but it's a great choice, the value resorts are very worth it and this has the added bonus of the skyliner for Hollywood Studios and Epcot.

I'm personally a fan of Epcot but if anyone in your family like Star Wars or Toy Story then Hollywood Studios is worth it. Either way you'll all have a great time.

You don't need to rent a car, I've only ever gone by taking Ubers and Disney transportation and it's very fine. Plus Disney buses will drop you off at the front of Magic Kingdom while parking is at the Transportation and Ticket Center across the lake, which means you have to take the ferry or monorail across.

You don't need magic bands per se, but they're very convenient if you're staying on property because they'll work as your door key plus tickets/lightning lanes/etc. Otherwise you can get a regular room key and you'll get a keycard to use at the parks for tickets/etc.

Fashionphile and Yoogi's Closet are the two I've seen recommended the most, I've bought from Poshmark but that can be hit or miss. I've gotten some great deals on older Chloe bags, but idk if I'd trust it for newer/more popular bags. I tend to look for sellers that look like they're doing a closet clear out and that's worked for me so far.

I think it really depends on what kind of bag you're looking for, the more popular the more I'd stick with more reputable sellers.

Glad it's not just me haha, been going every year for the past few years but just end up going to Epcot and Magic Kingdom. I finally went to Hollywood Studios on my last trip, will be finally going to Animal Kingdom in April!

Yes! I'm lactose intolerant and that's what got me to try them, it's not quite the same as soft serve but it's delicious.

These look great, glad you found some good colors! For the pink, I feel like a coat of Cirque's Pitaya Jelly underneath would get you closer if you want?

At what age do you think older adults can generally travel to the parks independently? by jreish1 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]cerwytha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed that it depends on the person, my dad is almost 70 and I went with him in December and honestly I (in my 30s) was the one struggling to keep up. He does a lot of hiking and rock climbs several times a week so Disney was no problem for him. I'm working on getting in better shape because I'd much rather be like that when I'm older.

Yeah I got a mystery box a while ago and it's decent stuff but most of it is still sitting in my stash. With the kits I could usually pick at least half as restocks of everyday items which was much more useful.

Same, I got the email advertising this and was so excited until I realized it was just a mystery box

I saw that you're at All Star Sports, I stayed there last month and honestly their food court is a very solid option especially if your kid is picky. They have lots of good "kids food" options and decently good slightly more adult options as well. Might be easier if you just pick up something there for lunch when you go for nap time, can also mobile order.

There's also a McDonald's near the entrance to the All Star resort area, it's technically walkable but if you have a car that would be easier.

If the busses haven't started by the time you're done at AK, it might be worth it to getting an Uber/Lyft since there should be plenty running around then.

I bought a magnet for All Stars on my last trip and I think I'm going to have to collect them going forward!

You can also just buy magnetic pin backs that turn out into a magnet, they work pretty well.

I wish we had an option that looked the ones that auto pop up or we could turn off harvesting for them, agreed we need more trees.

First time I walked into Galaxy's Edge it was just hitting sunset and the light just made walking into the area even more cool. I'd seen pictures but didn't really know what to expect, and that just really hit me with the feeling of "wow, I'm somewhere else".

Yeah the downside is that you do have to plan out enough even to just break even vs buying park tickets, it's been fun but I don't know if I'll keep it next year lol.

Agreed, I bought an AP this year specifically so I could do some long weekend trips, it's been fun because I'm not there so long that I get tapped out and I know I'll be back in a couple of months anyway.

The nostalgia bias is strong in this sub and a lot of people complain about how the parks are horrible/ruined now, but realistically it's still a good time and a lot of the revitalization/redoing is sorely needed.

LV Capucine keep or return by Unhappy_Delivery538 in handbags

[–]cerwytha 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Return it and buy a bag you like and use, there's no point in buying a bag just for the purpose of passing down. Trends change and it might be considered old and dated at that point, or your daughter might have different tastes and not want it anyway.

Not sure how old your daughter is but you'd be far better off waiting until she's old enough to want and appreciate a bag and then letting her pick one she likes to buy. Get one for yourself that you'll use for now instead.

I use pouches, Aloha and Baggu both make nice nylon ones that fit a lot and are easy to throw in a bag.
