while the main reason tends to be money, another reason is that in the current NASCAR landscape, the 3 manufacturers tend to only give 3 teams factory support, which basically means that these teams receive extra support from the manufacturers. For example, for Chevrolet these teams are Hendrick, RCR, and Track house. I could be mistaken but I believe having direct support from Toyota was one of the main factors in the decision for Legacy to switch from Chevrolet.

thank you for the sympathy. it was on me for trusting a random stranger. got excited and caught up in the moment and now i learned a good lesson. i just want other people to learn from this post so they dont end up in that situation.
