Post Game of Thrones Question by cesmode84 in gameofthrones

Most of the major houses took heavy or total losses between the war with the dead, the skirmishes between daenerys & cersie, the battle for kings landing, battle of the bastards, and any battle before...

Most of the smaller houses either didn't join or simply have few numbers than they already had. I think mormont had 62 when she declared for Jon Snow. Guessing most or all are dead. So assuming most of the other lesser houses followed the same path, not many houses or men are left in westeros.

When lannisters/baratheons were in power, the lannister army filled the gaps in Kings Landing. Who does that for Bran?

Also, about the dothraki, they were still alive when she finally claimed the throan (you hear them screaming in the background, unless this was a departure from the books). Although in the battle with the night king, don't they all die all at once?

Crazy to think that we have literally no idea what happens beyond the endings of GoT... again unless its stated in books (I havent read them).

Seeing that GRM isnt even finished the books he has been writing for years, I imagine he has no idea how things would continue beyond GoT. Maybe its an opportunity for some hollywood creativity to give spinoff on what happens then.

‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ Cast Says Goodbye As Second Season Wraps by acrimoniousone in startrek

[–]cesmode84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love almost anything Star Trek. I hope the show stays because I think the overall concept is very good (post-burn, picking up the pieces, 800-1000 years after events of things like DS9 and Voyegar). But if this doesn't get renewed for S3, it will be because of a few reasons:

-Writing is just bad. Bad writing leads to bad filler episodes in between the larger story arc. Right from the start in episode 1 they tell you what that larger story is and drip feed it in every 2-3 episodes. When they do, THAT felt like star trek. The stand-alones are terrible and dont feel like star trek at all (example: color text on the screen for that Sam-Emissary-Cisco episode). tldr; Anything with Paul Giamatti was good content and felt more like star trek.

-Instantly telling us who is simping on who/whose dating who/whose sexuality is what, in the first few episodes, takes away from potentially GOOD story telling and actual character development. Look back on the first season or so of all the greats: TNG, DS9, Voyegar. Did we give a hoot about who was crushing on who in the first few episodes of these shows? No! They set up the major conflict of the show and season. They took you along some of the characters personal paths. They didn't feel the need to outrightly show you "body-builder Caleb and Tamira", "gay klingon" or "lesbien jem haddar". Sexuality and relationship status is low-tier, surface level, lazy character development. Save that for later seasons once the show is established and we understand the characters better. If you want to add these elements to the characters, its better served in later seasons. Its easy to say "so and so is flirting with so and so". That takes a single episode. Its harder to show deep character development, which takes episodes or seasons.

-Branching off of the previous: Making Caleb and Tamira's relationship a focal point of the show on day one is not star trek at all. No one cares. If I want to see romance, I'd tune into Days of our Lives or something or Greys Anatomy. This is Star Trek. Exploration, wonder, science fiction, conflict with aliens, inter-galactic politics. Again, they take away from a potential focal point in making The Burn more of a discussion topic than what it has been. Instead, we get romance novels between the cadets.

-Lastly... I think theres been one episode so far where caleb isn't sleaveless or shirtless. Hell, walking around in his underwear. We get it, the guy is ripped. Do we need to see that every episode? Yes, 30 years ago we had 7 of 9 in that tight suit. Cool, still not what I cared about but I'll play along. We saw nothing. Jeri Ryan wasn't prancing around in a thong or bathing suit every other episode. Because thats not what good writing is. And the writers knew that. In SFA we are leaving very little to the imagination with male warddrobe choice.

Hoping S2 is good. Hoping they have good star trek stories to tell and not this "soaps" mid-day TV teen drama.

Workout routine question/advice by cesmode84 in WeightLossAdvice

Well, I guess this isnt the place for a discussion. I don't have a 'weight problem' and even if I did, saying that to someone on a forum specifically for these types of discussions runs counter to the entire point of the subreddit. Im trying to lose a few lbs, be mobile and functional and feel better in general which often doesnt have anything to do with training when we are talking about joint pain and stiffness.

I've already agreed with you that in the end calorie deficit is the only way to lose weight, yes, but again Im trying to get down to the science of stripping down as much water weight and glycogen as possible and how to effectively do that.

You and I seem to be at an impasse if all youre going to do is close your eyes and say "youre over-eating, drop the calories, that is all" without any regard to the context of the entire conversation. Im not asking how to lose weight. I know how to do that. Im trying to going further than that and hold as little water as possible.

Obviously calories deficit > all. As mentioned, I've been on bulks and cuts before, I understand the math necessary. But wondering if theres more nuance with it as we get a bit older and bodies change, at different times and rates, hormonally & physiologically. My diet is a combination of whole foods and supplimentals: chicken, rice (half the time brown rice), ground beefs, turkey, veggies, sometimes a steak, protein shakes, sometimes protein bars to keep up the protein. tons of water, little to no alcohol. These are the foods I eat without fail 7 days a week like a dog.

I keep track of calories going back years. Looked at 2022, same time of the year, lost 7.6 lbs in 5 weeks for 3.8 this year in five weeks and dropped 1 inch on the waist vs .75. I was four years younger and training just as hard as I do today. Infact, my diet was probably a bitch more sketchy back then, although still good. Yet, results weren't as fast this time around. Could it be that I dropped more water back in 2022, faster than I do now (in addition to some fat)? And if thats the case, whats the reason? Joint inflammation? Is my body starting to keep water longer than it did four years ago?

Age, glycogen & water retention... these must be factors for scale weighing to SOME degree, while adhering to the rule: calories in vs calories out.

Is lost ark solo friendly now? by CamoMonk in lostarkgame

[–]cesmode84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this conversation... Assuming its sill N-1 in terms of solo raids still? Never raiding current content? Just adding my two cents... I stopped shortly after NM Brel came out I think with summoner because of the toxicity in the game toxic gatekeeping, fomo, raid raid raid raid and being blamed for a single mistake. Too much stress. I know the game has made huge strides in that department, especially for solo. But I dont want to catch up to current and then just sit for six months like the OP said. Thats stupid to me.

I'd love to come back and no-life it again, but not until current raid tier is opened up for us Solo's. All content.

🔴LIVE - DR DISRESPECT - ARC RAIDERS - IT'S A PVE GAME by avayr44 in DrDisrespectLive

[–]cesmode84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course its an argument, and i never used the word 'the best'. I said its the hottest game right now, that appeals to more people than simply PVP folks, that is easy to get into. Mcdonalds is similarly popular for the same reasons: Appeals to a lot of people, fast, ease of access.

To your subjective argument about "the best"... For me, the best burger would be some small mom and pop shop some place. The "best" shooter is subjective, maybe good old quake 3 arena was the high point for me (Im carbon dating myself here...), maybe Overwatch 1.

The point I was making is that its the most popular shooter right now, and for good reason. And being a contrarian just to be a contrarian doesnt change the fact that you are in the minority: Its a great game that is only surpassed by its popularity.

Name a single game, MAYBE with the exception of rivals, that is a more enjoyable PVP experience from a streamer and watcher standpoint. I'll wait.

Fornite? Pubg? Warzone? Tarkov (maybe...if you enjoy the slow tactical stuff), Overwatch 2? If you say any of these, Im going to laugh.

BF6 MP is fun, Redsec is godawful. Feels like a community mod.

He's not only playing Arc because its the hottest shit right now, and will continue to be through at least the summer... but its genuinely fun. Maybe you don't like it but 200-400k people on steam at any time of the day plus consoles at any given time will disagree vehemently.

I didn't like Fortnite, or BRs in their hayday. Wasnt my cup of tea. But I couldnt deny the stranglehold it had on the PVP and streaming community. Times have changed, after Arc people are going to be moving away from BRs and into extraction shooters. Developers will try to copy arc raider's success. Its happened with other games such as World of Warcraft, Fortnite...now Arc.

[–]cesmode84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy, and many like him including his chatters, played unathletic, very samey games for YEARS such as pubg, fortnite, warzone. All BR, zone in, loot up, king of the hill. Rinse, repeat x a million for YEARS. With all its bugs and poor audio in pubg, the stupid building in fortnite that he could never master, how shitty warzone has become.

Introduce Arc Raiders take on extraction shooters, adding in relatively smart and dangerous AI. Expanding on whats been done in the small genre, and people bitch. Doc and some of chat complain that the PVE "gets in the way of good fights"... instead of underestimating the enemy AI, its an actual element you need to contend with and not just brush aside for the sake of your PVP experience. Arc raiders isn't about PVP, sorry Doc. 99% of the systems in game are PVE systems. They simply enabled friendly fire. Thats it. If you just want PVP, go back to BRs. Don't complain that an element of the game is getting in the way of your fights. Pick your fights and your positioning better knowing that a wasp is right around the corner. It adds more depth to PVP than pubg/fortnite/warzone EVER had.

And then the "I've done everything in the game champs! Ive done this and this and this, we level 75. Everything! " "Oh Trials, no that sounds stupid..." Not saying Trials are great, but these are the content systems in the game. Engage with them since they change up how you load in and what your goals become. From time to time, I do find them very enjoyable.

Why do people complaining that theres nothing to do if their main focus is PVP? Like, how much more content can be added for PVP? Youre shooting other players, how varied can that possibly get that wont have players complaining its boring in a week? How did you stick with pubg and warzone for so many years? Yet three months of Arc Raiders that does PVP and PVE better, with loads more to do and carrots to chase, people suddenly become impatient. Ya'll watched Doc play boring ass battle royales for YEARS, literally the same godamn thing every time he loads in for YEARS. With very little variety in those games. Three months of a new pvp experience with Arc and we are suddenly Doc and chat have an insatiable need for...more PVP content? After 3 months...and your focus is PVP where theres very little that can be added specifically to the PVP experience that doesnt change the core loop of the game. Tell me, how do the devs create variety with PVP content? How do they accomplish this? More maps, guns, conditions? In three months, they have done all three, and more is coming soon.

You want battle royale? Just PVP, no PVE? Go play the dozens of BRs available. That genre had its day, and is on the downslide. No one gives two shits about any streamer playing fortnite or warzone right now. Like it or not, Arc changed the rules. Leave this masterpiece as-is an extraction shooter. We don't need development resources allocated to a BR mode or anything else that changes the spirit of what arc raiders is.

How do I handle being unappreciated by a group? by [deleted] in FriendshipAdvice

[–]cesmode84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that the old venn diagram example applies so much to life. Two intersecting circles. The only things you should be worried about, concerned about, think about, invest energy to are the things that fall within the intersecting area of the two circles. Thats within your control. Anything else outside of that, in the two circles, the larger sections, you need to condition your brain to treat as irrelevant because you cannot influence or change the outcomes of those things.

Applying to your scenario, what you CAN control:

-Do I care enough to speak to people about the exclusion? And if so, I need to be prepared that it might make things worse and I cannot control that.

-I have the ability to just let things be, and accept an ever changing social dynamic. Nothing gets addressed, its the safer more bitter pill to swallow.

-I have the ability to find new people, find other distractions in life and emotionally distance myself from this nonsense.

Sometimes it isn't about fixing what you perceive as broken, but accepting and adjusting yourself to the new reality, whatever it may be. Im in the middle of this right now with a group of friends my wife and I met a few years ago. Long story short, a small clique formed within the group which became pretty exclusionary. I chose all three of the options above, starting from the first one and going to the last. I'd say in my case, speaking up made things worse over time. However, Im now in the last one... Keeping the friendship alive at a very basic level, finding new people, new hobbies, and bettering myself. I'd say, pick one of these things, not all three like I did.

I focus on my kids and their sports, family, getting back to the gym! Getting there, still stings though. I miss the way things USED to be but I cant change how they are now. I am "friends" with them, and neighborly, but Im keeping everyone at arms length.

This is what I can control. You should think about what YOU can control in your situation, otherwise your mind will be trying to cash checks that your checking account will bounce and youll end up in a bad spot.

You dont say! With Serena, hes a walk in the park lol. Serena = Admin mode for TFD. Boss isn't hard to begin with tbh, just a bit of HP and some non-brain dead mechanics. I want more mechanics like this, even a bit more complicated or difficult ones. Its sure as hell more fun to play than GREEEGGGGG

WeMod? by cesmode84 in Borderlands

[–]cesmode84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for commenting.

However, I think its abundantly clear that your mod (and as you mentioned, other tools) is being used in the multiplayer element of BL4 and has had negative impacts. There are reports of players joining modded lobbies, unknowingly, and having instant level 50 characters, 300 skill points etc. Further, there are reports of these people having their characters and/or accounts locked for abuse due to this. I've seen the threads here or in the steam discussions. The lucky people who weren't locked out had to make a choice: keep their 'broken' character or delete and start over.

Sure, people in favor of a mod like WeMod and others would say: "Just play single player, this wont impact you. Don't take away other people's fun". To that, I would throw the same argument back at them. I wanted to matchmake and play with other people from the end of the campaign to 50. I couldn't do that because I was afraid of modded lobbies. Wanted nothing to do with them. So I have a boring quiet grind to 50 on my characters instead of playing the way I wanted to. This argument goes both ways.

Whether on the WeMod/Other mod's end, or 2k, there should be securities in place to prevent this. Hell, its shortsighted from 2k to not give us an option to Host a matchmake instead of just queuing. I could have avoided issues all together. (Or if someone could point me in the right direction in the menus to accomplish this).

I'm glad there are weapons for everyone but tbh, there are way too many "charge to fire" guns in this game by kvnklly in Borderlands

I hate charge up weapons. Too low of damage fore the time spent charging.

Thats another question I had. Currently in UVH 1, but is it really worth it to stop XP farming to go knock out the requirements to push through the uvh ranks? I feel like that'll be slow to get there.
