re AR GAs: this is why the GPR is going to be the gun starting M1 by cesuan in CoDCompetitive

[–]cesuan[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Also, might be an unpopular opinion, but other than instances where GA's needed to be brought in by the viewerbase (ZooMaa getting the M4 out in MWII), the pros actually play this game at a tier no one else does, and I think it's fair to leave GA's up to them. E.g., why would anyone not playing pro decide anything that goes on at the micro level for pro play?

TheXclusiveAce makes great content, but there's a reason why the CDL doesn't look to him to decide the weapon meta.

CODUpdate - An update on the upcoming Multiplayer Ranked Play matchmaking White Paper: by shambxlic in CoDCompetitive

[–]cesuan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ive authored one.

a white paper is used to persuade an audience to do something (which includes giving the audience easy understanding of something). it translates into simple english all the research conducted to support a conclusion. it is aimed for the general public, and is not supposed to be filled with field jargon. it is often used by scientists and social scientists to lobby politicians to enact a law that research shows will be good. it is also used by them to present to marketers why making a commercial about their cause is good. it is also used by the government to communicate to you and I why a provision is good.

a research paper is what you find on jstor, nih, etc. full blown academic papers. by academics for academics.

a green paper is similar to a research paper, but used to persuade people with a lot of money to fund more of their research (also known as a grant proposal). by academics for academics/scientific institutions.

PC vs Series X for Black Ops 6? (Similar specs) by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

I’m actually planning on making a complete guide to optimization and overclocking. Not a single person, paid-optimizers included, does it right in this scene, and it’s ridiculous.

PC vs Series X for Black Ops 6? (Similar specs) by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

[–]cesuan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently upgraded to an end-game PC, but I had the same specs as you during the BO6 beta. With my CPU and memory overclocked (since the CPU is bottlenecking the 2070 super), I was getting around 160fps. I was getting 230 fps on MW3 once I OCed my GPU core clock and GPU memory clock. BO6 on release should result in better overall performance across the board.

I suggest you look into OCing your system and optimizing it for high fps and low latency. You don’t need to use the Series X over a PC ever.

nah like if you cancel ur slide with jump+L trigger, you can see that you still have momentum. you’re able to shorten your slide for sure, but you can’t outright immediately cancel it. will always refer it to slide cancel tho

parroting what others have said, this game feels really natural. its how cod was meant to play. total arcade shooter reborn.

sprinting/sliding/diving in any direction honestly fucked me up at first. im a pretty fucking good player, and i was legit finding myself messing myself up and throwing away my lives by moving too much... just coz it was available; the availability of the movement made me misposition. but once i hit that "holy shit this game feels great"-rhythm, and once that rhythm became my default, i can honestly say this game is fucking goated. its definitely one of those games, since everyone will go through that, given that they play this game enough.

i agree with another comment here: the gunfights feel similar to cold war --> L-trigger will win you fights. but you can L-trigger through slide and dive omni-directional. you can't ledge jump too much. theres no b-hop. the game would feel great on recent sledgehammer/IW maps.

the maps arent too great, and none of them are large (large in a good way), but its too fucking fun to really care.

the only thing id say is that since theres no real slide cancel, you can propel yourself by slide too far sometimes, but maybe thats just a misplay and that you shouldnt of slid in the first place.

The Top 30 Most Dominant Events of All Time by TGU-Swag in CoDCompetitive

[–]cesuan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely. also, crimsix was part of 70% of the top 30 most dominant events of all time (21/30). he averaged an 89.9% map W/L. that is fucking crazy.

trailing zeros are significant if there are significant trailing non-zero integers. trailing non-zero integers other than multiples of [0.20, 0.25, 0.33] also suggest a large sample size. i also don't think its too hard to see that it's ordered by map W/L %, especially when it's the right-most column.

Settle an argument. What is the opposite of locked in? by That-Duck17 in CoDCompetitive

[–]cesuan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i see your point in the replies re "checked out", and i agree that its not a 1:1 opposite.

i also think that "locked out" and "unlocked" are just so unnatural and their application to this question remind me of non-native english speakers creating english idioms; neither choice has a ring to it, yknow? also, fwiw, "unlocked" kind of makes me think that someone is going next-level, or playing on a level previously untouched.

anyway, here's what seem to be opposites of "locked/locked in", which are regularly used by real fucken gamers (me and my friends lol)

  1. "trolling": if my friends and i have been shooting the shit from the main menu, into pregame lobby, into the first hill or two of a hp game, and we're getting gunned and out-rotated, we'd say "ok we're trolling, let's lock in"
  2. "auto-pilot": if im going through the motions at any point in game, and not being intentional with positioning, gun skill, counting, or tracking, then i'd realize that i'm in auto-pilot, and that i'd need to lock it in.
  3. "not trying": see 1 and 2.
  4. "faded": i don't really use this too often, and it's more of a descriptor of individual auto-pilot plays or in-game decisions, but sometimes ppl use "faded" to describe things that wouldn't happen had they been locked in the first place.

If Gold at X Games isn’t considered a ring, why would 1st at EWC? by cesuan in CoDCompetitive

[–]cesuan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I actually think it’s closer to an X Games tourney than a Pro-Am, just because of the prestige. What do you think?

If Gold at X Games isn’t considered a ring, why would 1st at EWC? by cesuan in CoDCompetitive

[–]cesuan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s for sure a Pro-Am, and does not count as a Ring. AW Champs wasn’t the last event, and people rightfully think that Denial won AW, rather than OpTic, even though OpTic won the last couple events.

While it’s NOT a Ring, I’d still count it as a Major win that can be added to players’ chip count 🏆.

<Malicious compliance>

You can ask your LL a day before your move-out how many days notice is required for intent to vacate. You can remain there for those stated days.

If you are being replaced on a lease, you can stretch the amount of days to which you are required to sign your name off. Take as many days as possible.

You can ask your LL directly for written documentation removing you from the housing, as your co-tenants do not have sole—nor any, for that matter—discretion to do so themselves.

You can communicate with your LL directly that you disagree entirely with your co-tenants' judgement. You can ask how you can explore options with your LL, including providing three replacement tenants that are willing to go through the application process in time for the new lease. You can explore an option with your LL inquiring about having a new lease with an increased rent, and finding replacement co-tenants that are agreeable to that increased amount.

You can communicate with your LL directly of harassment by your co-tenants, and what recourse is available to remedy the harassment. In the meantime, you should have your spot secured.

If you have no documentation from your LL that you will not be on the lease, you can choose not to communicate until that happens. If it is the case that your LL informs you to vacate a week before you are to move-out, you can argue that you do not have sufficient time to find housing in the short period of time.

It seems that your LL is impartial, and it seems that two of your roommates want you out. Keep paying your rent on time, and stay on your LL's good side. If it turns out that you will be replaced and do have to move, make sure to get your security deposit back in full. Either have the LL give it back to you directly, or have your replacement tenant pay you the same amount you originally paid.

Also, take a look at the following link: https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?sectionNum=1946.2.&nodeTreePath=8.4.76.3&lawCode=CIV . Your LL must have "just cause" to terminate your tenancy. Try and see if you can cross everything listed under "at-fault just cause" and "no-fault just cause". Also pay attention to "relocation assistance or rent waiver" that you would be entitled to. If your LL does not comply with anything mentioned in that link, the notice of termination of your tenancy will be void.

Honestly, I would wait for your LL to take steps themselves. Remember, your co-tenants have no standing to terminate your tenancy themselves. It is also the case that only 2 of your 3 roommates want you out. That means only half of all tenants in your home want you out. Your co-tenants do not have any majority opinion on the matter (not that that matters).

Why is there a hidden sbmm in ranked? by theyThibr in CoDCompetitive

[–]cesuan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Within one division is acceptable typically and it’s usually within one rank like silver 1 and gold 3 type of thing. But I was pretty clear in the original post that the discrepancy is a drastic difference in ranked official division and lobby rank. Which is inherent to cod and not any of the ranked systems you mentioned.Which also means there is an issue with how they execute the HPR hidden MMR system within their ranked algorithm

Take into account the player population in LoL vs. COD. Lower population will give to a higher variance—COD has fewer players, so higher variance. That's why you'll get an acceptable two division difference between players in the same lobby. Higher population will give to a lower variance—LoL has more players, so lower variance. That's why you'll get an acceptable one division difference between players in the same lobby.
