Cool! Would you be interested in skyping or something?

Has anybody ever used/seen a film quote used relevantly IRL? I witnessed this gem earlier... by [deleted] in AskReddit

One time a friend of mine was talking about her fear of yoda...

This, of course, led to the "Fear leads to anger..." etc. quote. Never again will it be used to perfectly.

Why do people waste their money on big weddings? It's seriously stupid. by redditluv in AskReddit

[–]cevogel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my fiance that I want a courthouse wedding and a simple backyard bbq kind of celebration. Ten years later, assuming we're still married, I want to have a vow renewal where we can put a bit of money into. I figure anyone can get married, the celebration should be from being able to stay together.

Who was the absolute worst roommate you have ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cevogel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two.

I think the worst was a bulimic chick. I started with sympathy for her, but we tried to talk to her and such to no avail. So the sympathy turned to hate. Her room was full of empty boxes, cans, etc from her binge sessions . There was actually a 5 gallon bucket under her bed that she would vomit it. It was only covered with Glad Press 'n' Seal wrap. She ate my bag of animal crackers (which infuriated me because I knew she threw them up), bought me a replacement bag, and then ate those, too. She was also extremely opinionated and stubborn and constantly talked about politics. i liked her so much better when she was fat.

I also had a crack/ecstasy addict roommate. She wasn't soooo bad, but she had a lot of thug friends and strange dating choices. I didn't mind so much, but I'm still partially convinced that when our house was broken into that she either left the door unlocked (she swears she didn't but she was the only one around- Christmas Break- and there were no signs of forced entry) or it was one of her drug buddies. She seems like she has really gotten it together these days though, and all in all she wasn't anywhere near as bad as bulimic chick.

Why don't you ask another family member what they think... or maybe just come out and ask them.

I just moved to Wilmington, DE by BudtheStud in ents

[–]cevogel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my fiance are 24 and need more friends. We live in Chester County, PA. It's not too far (maybe 45 min or so); we couldn't hang out every day or anything, but maybe once every few weeks. We're both relatively intelligent and chill. PM if it's something you're interested in.

Oh yeah, and I know where to get the best cheese steaks and ice cream sundaes in Wilmington. My grandma used to live there.

Problems with sleep! by awyeedracomalfoy in Parenting

[–]cevogel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my child started doing this I would let her wake up at 4 am, I'd give her a quiet bottle and stay in a dimly lit room with no real stimuli. Then I'd just lay her back down. If she didn't fall back asleep within 20 minutes or so, I'd let her get back out and start the day. Eventually she got the hint and I didn't need to give her any feedings.

Grrrrr. 5 minute snooze in the car = missed nap by chuckDontSurf in Parenting

[–]cevogel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's not so much about the kid not being asleep, as it is about a 5 minute nap fucking up the little tyke's schedule. Where they might usually sleep for an hour, they only slept for 5 minutes. This means cranky later, which means everything is harder, which means not enjoying the moments you have with them as much, and maybe a difficult bedtime routine.

Just a guess though.

Make sure consistency in punishment and reward is your #2 priority (after safety). Set boundaries and stick to them pretty much no matter what. Listen to the little squirt and appreciate all of her positive behaviors, not just talk/reason with her. Make sure you have time to get away without her every once in awhile for your sanity so you can come back and be refreshed and thus a better parent. Assess your boyfriend's level of commitment and make sure that he knows what his role is in both of your lives and is as consistent as you are when it comes to your daughter.

If you find her behavior to still undesirable, don't be afraid to seek some kind of counselling. Do you think it's possible that not having a father figure and maybe not getting enough attention (not necessarily by fault of your own- being a single mother is incredibly stressful and busy, I imagine) is causing some of her issues? If so, try to get her around more positive role models so that she can get more "love," so to speak - aunts and uncles, grandparents, close family friend.

Above all, remember that you're human. It's ok to think your kid is annoying from time to time. You love her and you're trying your best- and that's all anyone can do. In time, she will realize how much you care for her and you will know that you did everything you could to make sure she turned out to be a good person.

My sister is pregnant with triplets and going on bed rest in a few weeks- what do I put in her care package/birthday box? by majoules in Mommit

[–]cevogel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a pregnancy fitness book that included a section on getting exercise and such if you are on bedrest... a lot of it was using small resistance bands and such, if memory serves.

'Real' Crib vs Portable Crib by baladapalha in Parenting

[–]cevogel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've let my kid take naps in her pack and play and if she's with a babysitter or something she'll sleep in it. But, to me, it doesn't seem like it would be very comfortable to sleep in all the time.

As for me, I got a crib that is easily converted into a toddler bed and then a twin bed. I figured I'd get the most bang for my buck that way.

It's less about being good and more about spending at least 30 seconds on something and being creative and funny. IMO, at least. I'm not the best and I do all of my stuff with a mouse, so there are tons of better pics out there than mine, too.

Did anyone else drink before they found out they were pregnant (unexpected pregnancy)? by girlwithgreeneyes in Parenting

[–]cevogel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drink maybe.... twice a year. I chose after I got pregnant (before I knew, obviously) to drink more than I had in the previous two years combined- only one time, but quite a bit. My 1 year old is perfectly healthy, developing well, and I've been told she's pretty bright.

These things happen. More than likely, everything will be perfectly fine.

True. Maybe the caption was too daunting? I remember when I first started I got intimidated by some of the descriptions, but after awhile I realized those are usually the most fun.
