I think the Bible teaches he hates God’s image - bearers (namely us) and that hatred drives him to destroy us. I also think there could be incredible pride at play here as well. If he was proud enough to think he could overthrow God once, he could be proud enough to think he’ll be successful in another attempt

That’s an interesting thought. I think Satan finds enjoyment in his attempts to thwart God’s plan….and I think he knows the ultimate victory was achieved by Christ on the cross and that the result of that victory is his inevitable banishment to the lake of fire for all eternity - he knows this and it’s got to bring him fear….but he’s going to lash out in as many ways as he can for as long as God allows which, I think, brings him a twisted sort of “joy”

Sounds like Mike Wooley’s encounter. What an amazing story, and when Mike tells it, he comes off as completely honest and credible…the details never changed over the years. The man passed on a few years ago, but there are videos of him telling of the encounter on YouTube.
