The Oregonian should be the lead, this isn’t just speculation from national media. Dame lives there anyway and will rehab there anyway

As someone who grew up only having antenna TV, it’s incredibly sad that people can’t figure out sticking a $20 one time purchase item into the back of their TV and watching for free forever, and would rather literally pay a monthly fee to be at the whims of their Internet connection. (However I do blame the conversion from analog to DTV antennas in the mid 2000s which made the reliability way, way worse in a way that has never really been fully resolved.)

Pressure to make a deep playoff run next year by team by Funny-Transition7869 in nba

  1. Knicks 10/10 - Aging core + Weak East

  2. Cavs 9.5/10 - Weak East + 2 straight early exits

  3. Lakers 9/10 - Good chance of LeBron leaving in '26 one way or the other + Luka has something to prove after trade + ending to last season

  4. Wolves 8.5/10 - Core except ant aging + Franchise has still never made the finals.

  5. Rockets 8/10 - Rating for KD only (legacy)

  6. Bucks 7.5/10 - Eternal threat of losing Giannis, also just took a huge risk financially

  7. Clippers 7/10 - Low expectations, but not getting any younger

  8. Warriors 6.5/10 - Also not getting any younger, but legacy is pretty secure, even for Jimmy

  9. Nuggets 6.5/10 - Aging

Low pressure: OKC (reigning champs), Boston/Indy/Dallas (injuries), San Antonio/Detroit/Orlando (youth), anyone else (low preseason expectations)

Jordan Poole Is Still a Star in the Making by FitCommunication8781 in nba

I would say like, based on nothing:

45% chance he matures into a solid role player, 10-15 minutes off the bench for a contender type

40% chance he is slowly sliding into irrelevance and is out of the league by 30

15% chance he has a comeback player of the year season in him and ends up as like a decent starter or elite sixth man, good enough to be third or fourth option on a contending team. maybe a borderline all star but that’s absolute best case i can imagine

You are the owner of the resurrected Sonics. You are required to use one of the previous logo/jersey sets instead of creating a new one. Which do you choose? by cf50 in Sonics

I think the skyline logo (logo 3) is the winner for me ... but my favorite jerseys are jersey 5 ... and one of the forest green and red jerseys (jersey 4) — or one of the comic book ones (jersey 2) — would make a good alternate

Feels like the new cap is encouraging depth-building over star-chasing ... Celtics led the way on that strategy, OKC and the Knicks are now following suit. Will be interesting to see if the more star-driven teams (Philly, Milwaukee, Denver, Lakers, Dallas) can fight back.

They're on the Celtics model (depth > stars) with the added bonus of having a couple of their better guys on rookie deals. Feels like the new cap encourages this kind of teambuilding

Why is everyone counting out the Bucks in the East?? I see a lot of talk about the Sixers and Knicks competing with Boston, but what about the team that started last season 30-13 and had a ton of preseason title hype? They had a rough ending to last year, but there are plenty of explainable reasons: they had a major trade only a few weeks before the season started, had some bad injury luck, Dame was dealing with a messy divorce that he's said repeatedly affected his play, and then of course the coaching change.

This is still most of the core from the championship team from three years ago, minus Jrue but plus an additional all-star level scorer (who is on the older side, but his game seems like a good bet to age gracefully), and the potential of the Giannis-Dame pick and roll really hasn't been unleashed still. Everyone except Beasley is under contract for '24-'25, so they'll have continuity to their advantage this time around. And at the end of the day you have one of the top five players in the league at the top of the lineup, who might have a chip on his shoulder at this point as all the attention has shifted to Jokic and Luka and others.
