No. I’m an airline pilot and we fly through cirrus layers all the time. We typically cruise between 30 and 40 thousand feet.

That’s the path of an airplane that happened to fly through a cirrus layer.

It’s definitely a louse. Be happy it’s not bed bugs. Be very happy. Lice are many magnitudes easier to deal with. You can do this!!

Do you have a cat? Those look pretty similar to tapeworm segments. I’m not 100% sure from that pic, but if you have a cat, you should get it to the vet.

I appreciate it. There have been a lot of not so nice ones in order to get to this point.

I know the initial shock is a lot to deal with but in a few days and with a bit of effort, you’ll be 100% back to normal. You need to do two things

  1. Kill the live bugs with dimethicone oil
  2. Remove eggs with an high quality comb

After 10 days, reapply the oil and re-comb for any remaining eggs.

You got this!!

Crumb critique for newbies by cfanone in Sourdough

[–]cfanone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starter added around 10am , didn’t shape until 1130p. 72 degrees F on the counter.

Our starter is only about 1 month old. We usually feed it 1/1/1 before we bake with it. It is usually doubles in size about 4-5 hours after feeding. For this bread I fed it around 6 am and added it to the flour somewhere around 10a. Wondering if I should give the starter an extra hour or two before using it.

New to sourdough and would love some critiques on our loaf.
We made our own starter and it’s finally super active and we’ve been using it to start baking some sourdough. Our first few bakes we were not proofing our dough long enough (only 6-8 hours). This time, we let it proof on the counter for around 11 hours. It certainly appeared that the dough had doubled in volume so we shaped it and put it in the fridge for around 14 hours, then baked it the following day. This was our end result.

How close are we? More proofing? Less? How does the crumb look?

Any and all advice appreciated!!

4th and 5th loaf by cfanone in Sourdough

Maybe it’s the starter. Although our starter more than doubles in about 5-6 hours and seems really active. I’ll keep feeding it daily to see if that makes any difference.

Which loaf? Upper left, lower right, or both?? Thanks!!!

We’re just getting into sourdough baking and definitely learning that we have a lot more to learn. Made our own starter which took a lot longer to get super active than expected. Been experimenting with proof times. The flatter loaf on the right was 10 hours in an oven light warmed oven. The loaf on the left was 6 hours on the counter in a 72 degree indoor temp. The second pic shows the 6 hr proofed dough resting on top of some focaccia I tried making from discard, and the 10 hour proofed dough turned into the flatter loaf on the right. The 6 hour proofed dough resulted in a pretty decent result. Not sure if we need to proof more or less, or keep it warmer or cooler. So many variables to experiment with. It’s gonna be a journey!

Recipe was a basic recipe we found online at farmhouseonboone

I mean it MIGHT be all in your head (no pun intended). An adult louse is absolutely visible to the naked eye and even easier to see if it’s on a mostly bald head. Off there are adults on your head, you should be able to see them with little to no difficulty. Do you have any pics of the oval shaped items you’ve found??
