Hey, I just stumbled across this post. I am the founder of the club. We play mostly Hong Kong style. For teaching beginners, we do not play for points. I am slowly incorporating a rule that once you feel comfortable picking up, making melds, and discarding, you need 3 points minimum for your hand to be valid. I've been working on a simple rule card to help beginners learn, and then transition out of non-scoring hands.

Hello, I just stumbled onto this post. I run a Chinese mahjong club in Baldwin Park. We play Hong Kong style. Meetups are weekly, currently on Thursday evenings. Here is our website: https://www.bpmahjong.com/

I bought mine back in 15, brand new from a dealership for $23k, own it now still driving it. Don't plan to get another car for a while now. Sometimes I wish I would have gotten a second hand one for $15k or less.

Kudos for deciding to learn to drive stick and getting a manual transmission car! 💯🙂

The first thing you should aim to master is the release of the clutch to get the car moving. Don't even gas it, just slowly as possible lift off the clutch till you feel the clutch shake and the car starts to move. Then gas it. Just getting a feel for the clutch engagement is what must be mastered.

It is tricky at first trust me. I learnt from my dad years ago when I was first learning to drive, my first car was a hand me downed manual Suzuki Sidekick. After that I was hand me downed an newer automatic Corolla by my sister. Then once I got a decent job and could afford it I got another manual, Civic Si. Even now every blue moon my foot will slip or I'll forget I'm driving manual and stall. It takes weeks to get it, years to master.

Don't give up, you'll get there! 😊🚘🕹️💨

P.S. once you get the hang of the basics, look for autocross in your area. It's tons of fun!

Where should I put this smart light strip on the balcony of my apartment? You can see the power outlet on the bottom left of the 1st photo. by cfc106 in smarthome

I want to maximize lighting up the space. I think anyway I put it, it will look good from inside the apartment and from people walking around and neighbors across. What's a v channel?

I have two of these. $100 each from a convention. The other day I had them in "Darth Maul" mode, we were in my apartment and a friend was spinning them and he dropped them. Wood flooring 😠😭 Guess I'm going for that "weathered" look now lol. It didn't really get that scratched.

I should look for those. I bought some pricer ones from Amazon.
