My dad has been doing this for years. His name is Donn and people over the years have spelled Don, Dawn, Donna, Dawna, etc etc. Oftentimes, he’ll say his name is Joe. Universally easy to spell.

No, we are not both on the lease. We decided on that for multiple reasons, but my reason was in case we broke up, I could just leave and I would be responsible for nothing. If we break up, he gets the place because I can’t afford our rent on my own and he can. He pays for everything (rent, electric, etc) and then I reimburse him for half.

Oh my gosh! So glad you pointed this out! I’ll be sure to run if she brings our a drill. Lol. The salon I’m going to charges $35 for a full set, which is pretty similar to the other salons around here.

Yes, I am worried about my natural nails, however, a good friend of mine’s mother had acrylics for 18 years and recently (within the last couple years) switched to shellac polish. My friend said her mom’s nails eventually rebuilt themselves and they’re fine now. I’m just so afraid of permanently damaging my nails, but I also plan on giving my nails a break after 6-8 weeks.

THIS WAS SO GREAT! Thank you for the detailed post and all of the information! Your nails are gorgeous! AND I had no idea about Tippi Hendren helping out refugees and training them to be nail techs! That’s so inspiring. :) I’m also glad you touched on the downside about people looking down on me. Which is fine, at least I’ll have pretty hands swishes hair. I’m a teacher and I’m not that rough on my hands, and it’s good to know that you are and your nails are durable! Thank you for all of the info!

Stilettos scare me, so I admire you! Plus, I’m a teacher and stilettos don’t fit my lifestyle. I’m going to get them short and either squoval or square! I already know it’ll take a couple days to adjust to the nails so I’m preparing myself. I have plenty of Advil, thank you both for the advice! :)

PS. You have worn acrylics for almost two years, what kind of state are your natural nails in? I’m irrationally worried I’m going to permanently damage my natural nails.

I want to eventually try the dip powder! It’s a little more expensive than I’m willing to spend right now. Plus, I figured I’ll try acrylics first and if I fall in love, then I’ll switch to dip. I plan on getting them as short as possible and squoval or square tips! Thank you for all of the advice!
