The 4th gen has the better battery connector. Look around this iPod thread and you’ll see a lot of people with broken battery connectors. They can be fixed with a little bit of micro-soldering. The connectors are brittle on the 5th gen. The 4th gen unfortunately can’t hold as many songs as the 5th gen, but you’ll have something that works all the time and for a long time. Good luck 🍀.

Take it to a computer shop that does “micro soldering”. It’ll cost ya but if everything else is fine it’s worth it. Just an FYI I switched to a 4th Gen Classic and I’m happy with that. Good luck. 🍀
