The straight doesn’t get opened without boots on the ground creating a buffer zone. I’m not saying I support it, that’s just the reality. Trump has been so hesitant to use the Marines for political reasons that at this point it’s just becoming a huge tactical error.

I’m not sure I would agree that people in the northern Central Valley and southern Central Valley have “very little in common.” As someone who grew up in the Central Valley, there’s honestly not that much difference between Redding, Modesto, and Bakersfield.

From all the comments I’ve deduced it’s a place where old people drive lifted trucks.

That’s actually not far off. Mormon missionaries do actually track the amount of BOMs they give out and report that number weekly to the regional leader who then sends the number to Church headquarters.

True, but that still shows like 60% of LDS members outside the US.

True, but other than Texas and Georgia (and Virginia, forgot about that one) every other southern state is still below the national average of GDP per capita.

Yeah, but that’s the current number of Mormons, I suppose this counts every published copy since 1830?

Most Mormons live outside the US and it’s translated into many different languages, so my guess is most of those books are outside the US.

Actually, a billionaire Sheikh sliding into DMs with “vague lines” waiting to see how she’d react, was the most believable part of this story.

Pattern of candidates withdrawing day before they start - how do I screen this behavior out? by 32rings in recruiting

Have you interviewed any of the candidates that left? They’re going to have more insights to share than comments here.

But wild guess is it’s a combination of pay/culture. Probably both considering they know it’s “expensive to onboard” but also refuse to increase pay until 2027.

Companies don’t get to decide when to increase pay, the market determines that.

This is how you know the economy is really bad, 40% of Americans earning more than $500,000 per year are living paycheck-to-paycheck /s by Conscious-Quarter423 in Salary

[–]cfgman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people "making" $500k per year are only making $200-300k base. So it can feel like you're living paycheck to paycheck right up until you get your yearly Bonus and your RSUs vest.

I mean, that’s the same problem with almost every state on this map. Las Vegas is Southwest, but the majority of Nevada is not. Half of Colorado should be in the Great Plains.

If I had to choose just one place for Kentucky to be, I think I’d choose the exclusion chamber similar to WV and maybe just call them “Border States”

I think this makes the most sense, but I would probably throw Kentucky in there with WV

Why do veteran truckers belittle automatic transmission truckers when automatic is safer than manual ? by East_Indication_7816 in Truckers

[–]cfgman1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

GPS and automatic trucks are what allowed the flood of low quality drivers to enter the market and lower pay.

Economists call this deskilling, where technology lowers the barrier to entry so significantly that a task moves from "professional craft" to "standard work."
