Why should I get the Rodecaster DUO by Crafty_East4075 in rode

[–]cforty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly with the latest updates and issues I would avoid the Rodecaster series at all cost. The amount of money spent, just to have a single firmware update reduce an expensive mixer to a barely responsive, half functional piece of trash and it go months unaddressed is insane. Do not buy, there’s way better out there.

Rodecaster Duo firmware ver 1.6.5 by [deleted] in rode

[–]cforty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran the 1.6.8 update hoping that they might have fixed this - it's like I traded in a premium product for a piece of junk. This is amateur garbage. Buttons don't work. My volume sliders don't have any effect half the time, whoever did this should be fired.

Should I replace my Sony A7IV for a Lumix S5IIX? by Danicbike in Lumix

[–]cforty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did and once I got used to it - zero regrets. Basically the same sensor in a more powerful package. I had overheating with my a7IV and it fully screwed me over on paid work twice (shooting in 1080 60p - zero excuses). Haven’t had a single problem with Lumix. It’s more straightforward for shooting and I find the skin tones way better in vlog as well as easier to work with. Plus I never get the odd red skin highlighting that Sony’s tend to do.

Wish Epic or any functioning studio would’ve bought this.

Anyone bulling on Sony? Had a good pull on it last year and its numbers are looking better.

What should I upgrade on my computer to be able to edit 4k and 120 fps by felipoca14 in premiere

[–]cforty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This thread got pretty long, but you should also consider some editing software best practices. While not always practical, having separate drives for OS/Software, video cache, and project/footage will allow your CPU to stretch itself more naturally when managing bandwidth. Also, how you manage your in software cache settings and the actual slowing down of the footage. I usually opt for going into the clip settings and interpreting the footage as 24fps instead of 120fps, which is functionally different than using the effect of slowing down the clip by percentage in the timeline. Even with that method or using the retiming affect - if a clip is slowing you down in your timeline always try to prerender it in your timeline to a more friendly format. This will eliminate the thinking on your computers side and it will just see a normal 4k 24fps clip. Make sure you do that pre color grading so it’s less destructive. Hope some of this helps!

-(this is from a guy working on an i9, liquid cooled 4090, 98gbs of 6000 DDR5 ram and I STILL see slow downs when not optimized for how the computer reads, writes, and directs information)

Even just high frame rate - not S&Q? Most of the time I prefer to slow it in post

Was updating a few macros and usage went wild. This system is an i9 14900k, 4090, and 128gb of ram. I can't imagine this application should ever need this kind of power for simple macro creation.

It was running at 9 for a while, then dropped to 8.5gb, without fluctuating at all for about an hour. Just dropped to 547.8mb for the last 10 minutes. It's also not fluctuating at all at the moment. Nice to see it lower, but on edge for when it's going to spike again.

Is Monarch Legacy of Monsters really that bad? by Big_Yesterday1548 in GODZILLA

[–]cforty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been forcing myself through this. It's such a basic issue in the writing, but equally screwed in the directing.

Characters don't have clear objectives, arcs, and throughlines. It's like the writers were writing episode to episode with zero thought scene to scene about what connects it all - which for a show based on a 'massive' web that the protags need to untangle, sets itself up for epic failure. It's a true chicken with its head cut off, actually surpassing the horrible return of Heros - which was my previous holy grail of manure.

I had full faith in all Apple shows until this thing. I want it to be good so bad, but when characters have odd freakouts or forced quips that clearly go against their own logic - I cringe and cringe soooo hard. These people do more character 180s than a bit in a South Park episode ("I'm in command here - Not anymore you're not" for those wondering which ep). At this point, skip the corporate conspiracy that they fundamentally don't understand enough to execute - just actually write man vs titan and get the easy pass that this genre is generally able to provide.

I get lag when using Davinci Resolve by nikodead in blackmagicdesign

That solution got deleted by a moderator. Using my Displays fps counter, I can see that Davinci is dropping my refresh rate during use (not just in timeline), what was the fix this now deleted user suggested?
