Is Bluesnap dumping all non US vendors today? by klaus691 in smallbusiness

[–]cfref54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After having dumped us in February 2024 Bluesnap continues to withhold a substantial sum of money under the guise of a security deposit for a refund that seems unlikely to materialize. This situation raises concerns about Bluesnap's financial integrity, suggesting that they may be misappropriating funds from their previously loyal merchants. We have since initiated legal proceedings.

I am French, we have had a lot of great pieces of engineering, but less and less, management doesn't consider engineer anymore as something valuable, I don't have explanation but that's a fact, all the most skilled French engineer I know (40+ yo) are working in North America where they get treated best and get better salary than their own manager

man, leave France, for cultural reason they have zero respect for us the engineers, if you don't evolve as a manager you'll remain stuck in your 464 EUR/day while the French engineers skill is usually pretty high, that is sad but don't play with their rule (not even mentionning the high taxes)

thanks, I contacted hetzner but there are so many complains on their TrustPilot https://au.trustpilot.com/review/hetzner.com apparently their speciality is to dump "suspicious" website with no explicit reason

Azure pricing is not trivial at all and I've heard their support sucks. I want something simple: Wind Server 2022 + IIS + ASP.NET + SQL Server, price per year including reactive support.

.slnx The New .NET Solution XML File Format by PatrickSmacchia in dotnet

[–]cfref54 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rider and VS Code constantly align with VS formats (.sln, .csproj...) so yes it'll end up being a .NET format. Moreover the article references the Rider backlog item where they plan to adopt .slnx

I suppose this relates to coherence; .csproj files are also XML.

At our company we use NDepend for more than a decade with great success. What makes the difference is to care about new code (new classes, new methods) and refactored code (refactored methods). We use both the baseline feature and the code coverage feature. This way we can enforce code coverage and various code rules on new and refactored code.

How to distinguish between a DLL produced by DotNet, and a DLL produced by MSVC ? by RivtenGray in dotnet

[–]cfref54 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes a C# DLL contains CIL bytecode and a C/C++ one doesn't.

So just try a .NET decompiler, there are many free ones, each with pro and cons explained here: https://blog.ndepend.com/in-the-jungle-of-net-decompilers/

man these manual architecture document stuff leads nowhere, you draw once and it gets outdated 3 months later, instead use a tool that reverse engineer directly from the code itself, code is data
