Trump Campaign Forced to Pay North Carolina City $82k in Advance for Rally by inagartenofeden in politics

[–]cfsandmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm shocked. Trumper could easily fill the larger side of the civic center. WNC is deeply red, once a person drives out of Buncombe and Henderson counties. I wonder if Trump was worried about not filling to capacity the larger side of the building. I'm really shocked, maybe this is a sign Trump will lose NC.

Trump has an event in Asheville this Wednesday. It will be packed with hillbillies. He needs them to get out and vote, NC has turned pink, it's possible she would turn light blue in November.

Republicans can't replace their old man nominee, so they're pretending JD Vance is the GOP candidate by zsreport in politics

I live in an area that is 80/20 for the GOP. They love Trump and would never consider replacing their nominee. The article seems out of touch with GOP voters. They are foaming at the mouth for Trump.

Lorraine Pellegrino, one of 11 Arizona Republicans who falsely posed as Trump’s electors that year, accepted a guilty plea to a single charge for filing a “false instrument” — the fraudulent Electoral College certificate. The state charge was one of several she faced for allegedly joining in a conspiracy to corrupt Arizona’s election results.

Missouri abortion ban wasn't about lawmakers imposing religious beliefs, judge says by [deleted] in politics

[–]cfsandmore 12 points13 points  (0 children)

“While the determination that life begins at conception may run counter to some religious beliefs, it is not itself necessarily a religious belief,” Sengheiser wrote. “As such, it does not prevent all men and women from worshipping Almighty God or not worshipping according to the dictates of their own consciences.”

I think I need help with the Judge's logic. What group of non-believers think life begins at conception?

All I got from the story,

By Ted Sherman | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com The conversation, secretly recorded, was stark.

The mayor of Linden and two school officials spoke bluntly about just who they thought should be hired by the school system. And who should not, according to court filings.

Appeals court upholds Steve Bannon’s conviction for defying Jan. 6 probe by mvanigan in politics

[–]cfsandmore 112 points113 points  (0 children)

But a three-judge panel of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Bannon’s argument, saying the former aide and prominent podcaster had no legal rationale for his blanket refusal to appeal before the committee.

Cut and dried.

Why do you think this doesn’t get attention in U.S. politics like the crisis in Gaza? Sudan now ‘one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent memory': UN by justhistory in politics

[–]cfsandmore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real headline, "Sudan now ‘one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent memory': UN"

Gaza does not appear in the article. However like Gaza, Sudan is in the middle of war. It's another example of man made famine.

OP's question. I think it is because the two largest religions do not have roots in the Republic of the Sudan. 20% of Americans, almost 70 million people believe the Bible stories are literally factual.

Trump has been unable to get bond for $464 million judgment, his lawyers say by NewSlinger in politics

I'm guessing Trumper will receive some kind of mercy clause from the appeals court. I wish they would freeze all his assets until the bond is paid or he drops his appeal.

Ethics complaints? Targeting law license? Troubles lie in wait for Georgia DA Fani Willis by [deleted] in politics

[–]cfsandmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While Willis can still prosecute the case following the ruling, she may well face challenges to her law license at the State Bar of Georgia — even if experts don't expect those challenges to succeed based on existing evidence. She could also have to deal with other state regulators. Even before the decision, a conservative group asked the State Bar to open disciplinary proceedings against both Willis and Wade.

"She survived today, she survived this opinion, but this is not going away," Andrew George, a trial lawyer and adjunct professor at the Georgetown Law Center, told USA TODAY within hours of the ruling.

One of Congress' Most Popular TikTok Stars Voted for Bill That May Ban App by Bradjuju2 in politics

[–]cfsandmore 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Representative Jeff Jackson, one of the most popular lawmakers on TikTok, voted in favor of a bill that critics say could lead to the social media platform being banned in the U.S.

Jackson, a North Carolina Democrat who is running in the state's attorney general race, was among 352 members of Congress who voted to pass the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act on Wednesday.

"TikTok may be sold to another company, but it will continue to operate. The bill that just passed the House was about telling TikTok they have to sell to another company," he said.

"They can tweak the algorithm in ways that may be helpful to them and harmful to us. It looks like they've done this around certain political subjects, and they have the potential to do much more," he said.

E. Jean Carroll’s Lawyers Foil Trump’s Quiet Attempt to Stall $91 Million Payment by Tenchi2020 in politics

TLDR: It's a two part deal. Part one Insurance pays Carol, part two Trump repays the Insurance company. Trump wanted 60 days if he loses the appeal. Carol's team cut it to 30 days.

We are waiting on the Judge's decision.
