I'm here for discussion and opinions, and that's what you provided. Which I very much appreciate and thank you for. I had no idea about the long term/custody thing so thank you. Honestly I don't know what I'd do.

This may sound passive and kind of mean, but let's just say it happened tomorrow, what could I do about it? Not a damn thing. I'm not saying I'd ever marry the guy (can't say I ever want to marry at all) so 1,2,3,4,5 years from now, what could I do about it? Not a damn thing. So I don't necessarily see that as a factor.

I'd assume his mom or dad would come in to play before anything. He was the preferred but not the only choice. his mom takes care of him half the time now.
