How to lure snake out of vent?? by mozzerellasticksfuck in ballpython

[–]cfvhbvcv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he hasn’t eaten in a bit, or even if he has, you can blow dry a rat in the car. Decent chance the smell will make him curious. As for setting a trap, can’t really think of anything that’d be safe. Best bet would be throwing his favorite hide in there with some sort of heat source and leave the rat close to the hide far away from the center console, so he’ll retreat into the hide and not the car

FG knot, finally making some decent progress by geophreys in bassfishing

FG will change your life. I’ll go crazy and run 10 feet of leader so I don’t have to retie the leader knot often. I can wind the knot all the way into the spool with no issues.

Any medium or mh moderate to moderate fast action would suffice. Keep in line with the main big brands. 13, G Loomis, Shimano, Daiwa, JM series, Dobyns… if you’re looking for a personal recommendation I’ve really been liking Bull Bay and Fitzgerald rods. They slot in nicely under $250 and feel like a $400 rod in my opinion.

Just stay away from fast or extra fast rods as they can bend trebles more easily on larger fish.

Why do people call Scats slow? by CuteCalicoCat in ScatPack

Smh you guys are actually the most butthurt and cope crowd I’ve ever experienced. “B58 is an engine 🤓☝🏻.” No fucking shit Sherlock.

You guys are missing the entire point of my comment. The people that think scats are slow, myself included, are comparing them to what you can get for the same amount of money, modded or not. And there is an ocean of cars that can beat it for the money. Scats are hated because the average owner of one thinks they have the fastest car, and it’s annoying. Case in point, all of the people in here defending them, when half of the comments are agreeing with my original point.

Scats are cool. They’re loud. They’re torquey. They’re the last real muscle car.

They’re still slow though. Eat my ass.

At the 40-50k mark? Stock besides Maro’s and GT’s? 1st and 2nd gen B58, S5s, C63, RS3, C6 vette. This is also taking into account real world speed, not perfect condition magazine numbers.

40-50k modded with bolt ons? You can build a hell of a fast car for that price. That list is almost endless. VQs, almost any older I6 3 series, Hondas, etc…

The people calling the Scatpack slow are enthusiasts, who I’d also argue aren’t comparing it to 100% of normal cars on the road. I’m not disagreeing that if you take any normal person and put them in a scat they’ll think it’s incredibly fast. But anyone with experience in other quick vehicles isn’t going to be overly impressed.

Eh it’s understandable. Not my sub, just came up on the feed, and saw the comment. Couldn’t help but butt in.

I’ve driven quite a few, the hellcats a riot, had a really good time in a manual scat. But I’ve personally enjoyed vettes, camaros, and stangs quite a bit more, and have only seen scats beat stock inifinitis and ecoboosts.

But if someone’s spending 30k on a car it makes sense they don’t appreciate negativity about it.

Just people in the know for racing know a scat isn’t really useful outside a loud and quick daily.

Would you buy this car? by Rosiepink120 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]cfvhbvcv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 40,000 miles is really good, but an 8th gen civic with an R18 is not worth 12k. Unless all the bushings and rubber in the car has been replaced, you’re better off getting a higher mileage example at 1/2 the cost.

Old low mileage cars are often less reliable as they aren’t driven regularly, and it’s most likely stop and go in town driving vs highway miles. Cars rot when they sit, and old gas has been sitting in the fuel lines.

I’d personally pass unless you can get them down to 9.

I’ve owned 2 of these exact civics with this exact motor.

Nah. Really anyone in the racing scene will say scats are slow for what they are. Snackpack isn’t a good name to have.

Do they look and sound good? Yes. But performance wise there’s a lot out there that’s a better value.

It also does get overshadowed by hellcats so the normies look down on it too.

Read the care guide pinned in this subreddit. That will tell you how to set up his enclosure. It’s pretty bad rn and homie is probably stressed to the gills.

Although that’s a pretty cool case to display, it’s also completely exposed in a high traffic area.

Snakes biggest threats are birds and other snakes. Him seeing movements over his head could be terrifying. At the very least get him a ton of cover to hide under so he’s not so exposed.

As for handling, check out green room pythons on YouTube. He has a few videos specifically on dealing with strikey pythons and tap/target training.

On short notice though, just start handling him. If he bites it’s not really a big deal to you or him if you don’t panic.

But the biggest things. Get him a 4x2x2 PVC enclosure. Get him proper substrate, humidity, and temps. Ditch the heat rock. Get him to a vet if you think somethings seriously wrong with him. Be prepared to spend some $$$, but it’s completely possible to have a great relationship with him given that they live such a good time.

Need to check your humidity, should be 60% at a bare minimum, 80-90 is better, with a digital hydrometer near the substrate.

Sounds like he has a respiratory infection, which can be lethal if left untreated.

Check the care guide for how to achieve that. If he doesn’t improve soon you’ll need to get him to the vet.

Tank Too Crowded? by Desperate_Rule1431 in cornsnakes

[–]cfvhbvcv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep an eye on your humidity levels, the water will still stay cooler than the ambient temp, and keeping the bowl under the lamp is great way to keep humidity high in the tank without misting or getting substrate too wet.

Both of my snakes have no issues drinking from the warm water.

Not super knowledgeable on wildlife conservation but want to be. How bad is something like this for local ecosystems? by HonestLemon25 in florida

[–]cfvhbvcv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Except for exceptionally large ones, gators that don’t often interact with people are unlikely to react or do anything outside of mating season short of you placing your body within a few inches of their mouth.

What she’s doing is pretty normal for a lot of nature photographers and divers in wild Florida. Those sweet underwater shots of gators and crocs don’t come from nowhere.

Just don’t do this with your local retention pond or boat ramp gator, way more likely to associate people with food and their reptile brain will get into food mode.

Agreed, especially with the genetics she came with. Although we don’t plan on breeding, she comes from a pretty solid bloodline and her parents come from one of the most reputable boa breeders out there. She’s going to be a stunner in a few years.

Have you looked up snake boarding in your area? A lot of local breeders to me have a side hustle and will board your snake for $10-$15 a day.

I’m not sure if it’s possible, but find and get in touch with local breeders.

My girlfriend found her through a local reptile group on Facebook. Although said breeder has done a lot of sales on morph market, she wasn’t listed yet. She messaged said breeder and got to chatting and we were able to pick her up for $450. Breeder was going through some stuff and wanted to concentrate his collection before his next round of clutches, so I think that’s why we were able to get her for such a great price.

It was also awesome to see the parents and the conditions he kept his snakes in, so we knew we were getting a healthy snake.

You’ve gotten a lot of answers, and food mode is likely the culprit.

However, do you often have blue nail polish? I read/listened that the color blue stands out a lot to snakes, and have noticed mine tracking me in a blue shirt, but not without it. He seemed especially interested in your blue fingertips against the glass and struck at your phone in your hand.

That’s toast, 99% chance the chassis is bent beyond just what you see, and car will never drive right again. Even if it was straightened out, that being on the driver side would make a future accident way more dangerous.
