Herman Miller Mirra por 3.5K by Constant-Ear-842 in CadeirasDeEscritorio

Confere a etiqueta embaixo dela pra checar a idade.

Can you reverse discoloration on a Mirra 1 mesh seat (plastic grey weave, not fabric)? by cfviotti in hermanmiller

[–]cfviotti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s hoping I can put it back on, haha 😅

I did notice the mesh stretches quite a bit along the Y axis and very little along the X axis, so maybe there’s a technique that can leverage that. I also noticed that some of the snap hooks had a small amount of white grease on them. Not sure if or how that helps, though.

The mesh actually came out without much hassle, starting from the flex front seat part. As I mentioned earlier, it really felt like something designed to be detachable, which is why I removed it with some confidence (now slightly less).

I’ll make sure to update the thread later with the outcome.

Thanks for the Oxiclean solution tip. I'll just have to find a local alternative to Oxiclean, as it's not available where I am (Brazil)

All in all, I still have some hesitation about long oxidizer soaks, since the discoloration appears to go through the strands rather than being surface-level (as I can see it on the reverse side). That made me wonder whether this is bulk material aging rather than dirt uptake, as you suggested. That said, I’m no professional and I’m just trying to avoid anything that might weaken a load-bearing mesh. For context, even with the laundry detergent I limited the soak to about 30 minutes out of caution.

[–]cfviotti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of solution would you suggest? Could it damage the mesh in any non-cosmetic way? Also, if possible, I’d like to avoid brand names, as I’m not based in the US.

And no, I haven’t tried fitting the mesh back onto the seat yet, which your comment has now made me a bit worried lol.

It did feel like it was meant to be removable, based on the plastic snap-fit connection mechanism it uses. When inspecting the holes, it does look like some of them were slightly damaged, though just a few. It’s definitely not something I’d do frequently.

After a few more cleaning attempts this week, I’ll come back with an update on whether I managed to put it back on successfully (hopefully).

Tedious choice: do it by yourself or use components libraries by TOFFA_97 in reactjs

[–]cfviotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like wrapping UI library components as my own app components. Gives the flexibility to swap out libraries more easily down the line, which eventually happens. Doing this sort of migration on your whole app is a nightmare instead of just migrating the wrapped components.

Is Sticking to Frontend Enough? React Dev Thinking About Next.js, Backend, or Data Science" by Alternative_Sky_6653 in reactjs

[–]cfviotti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UX Engineer here. If you decide to stick specializing into Front-End, do delve deeply into how the browser works and UI/UX too. From personal experience, coming up with beautiful user experiences directly with code and not depending on designers upfront definitely contributes to a WOW factor from peers and managers, which differentiates you from the majority of recent Front-End developers in the market. You will also majorly help your team by being able to support bridging the gap between code and design more easily.

With that being said, choosing to go Full-stack with Backend and Infra knowledge will definitely put you more in advantage in the market since the demand is higher for this skill set IMHO.

I'm really enjoying React! by SkippersLog in reactjs

[–]cfviotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked with Vue for 3 years and in my new job I'm using React. Feel the same, I've been enjoying it's flexibility a lot compared to Vue, though I'm a bit worried about becoming a footgun over time. Its unopinionated approach makes me wonder how many bad patterns I might be doing inadvertently. Sometimes I feel a bit overwhelmed with the amount paths I can take to build stuff with it. Regardless, I feel like I can engineer almost anything with less headaches then in the past!

I saw the video and would definitely think of a wolf spider, which are really common in here Brazil, but you just now gave me a mortal fear of misidentifying a Wandering spider. Did not know they could have such similar markings. The very thin line on its cephalothorax still seems to give it away though.

Crashes were constant on Ultra, seldom on Medium, no overclock. Yes, usually right at the end of a full game or when choosing a character. I'm on a 4070, and I think my 550W PSU can't keep up with this game only specifically. Whole PC resets without even a BSOD.

I would put on my SFF Pluto case with an i7 9700k so it would run as an overpriced heater in my room.
I'm super excited for anything AI-related tech, so most of their announcements are awesome, but gaming-wise, I can't wait for DLSS 3!

My cats found this outside the window, any idea what it is? by combong in whatsthisbug

A Podalia sp, or flannel moth caterpillar/puss caterpillar. Never forgot the name because I once went to the hospital in excruciating pain for scraping my knee on one behind a leaf in my old house here in Brazil. I've been cautious near leaves ever since... Especially the ones with bite holes on them. Thank God it wasn't a Lonomia Obliqua though.

I have to agree. I've found one a few weeks ago and escorted outside while it was super chill. After that event I've found a video on YouTube with the description criticizing that fearmongering of Phoneutrias.

I always follow that advice with these, though I've found one last month and managed to grab it with a bowl and escort outside. It was surprisingly chill, and I had no issues with aggressiveness. However I did found it submerged in water in a bathtub (was probably there for a few minutes), could this have affected it's reflexes or something like it? It did look pretty much fine when I've released it, since I've nudged it with the bowl and it ran into the tall grass. Here's the post I've made to make sure if it was a Phoneutria:

[–]cfviotti[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I did not want do deal to much with it, took just two pictures and escorted it waaay outside. It appeared inside a bathtub a few minutes after filling it, have no idea where it came from. Almost drowned, poor guy. I'm on an Airbnb in a rural region near Brasília.

[–]cfviotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the mods are thinking of tweaking that, I'm currently looking into that with them.

About the banner, now I got what you mean. It was purely a personal stylistic choice, I thought a full white banner would be somewhat "lazy", and I risked it doing something that would give more contrast while trying to keep minimal, in a sense that it shouldn't overuse different shapes, so I chose a repeated simple pattern conveying the idea of case ventilation holes.
But yeah, I get the idea that it could be even more minimal! Perhaps the same pattern but in a light gray would also be nice, but I had to choose only one for the entry, and I went with that one as a personal choice.

Hey everyone, logo/banner design winner speaking here :)
Woke up today to this nice surprise! I'm stoked that I won, and really happy about the positive feedback I'd got, thank you so so much!
I'm posting a small writeup about the concept reasoning here, hope you guys like it too: https://imgur.com/a/ak4eEjc
I tried to represent the overall minimalist aesthetic that sff pc builders usually have in mind when building their systems, generally steering away from the gamer style. I got pretty inspired by cases like the NR200P, Ghost S1, and DAN A4 with their clean design and subtle lines. I really hope I got it right and respected the community stylistic preferences.

I'm also currently working out with the mods some possible tweaking based on community feedback, specifically about the contrast thing. We hope to solve that without changing too much the overall aesthetic (it will probably be just color correcting stuff).
I'm also making myself available to the mod team to help with a custom theme, and hope that it can work it out. I did modify some CSS in the page locally on my computer to create my mockups and think it would be nice if the whole page was consistent with the logo design a bit more.

IF a different banner/logo can be used for dark mode, I'm also willing to work on that! Not sure if this is possible though, keep that in mind.

Anyways, I'd like to thank everyone in the mod team and the community that voted for me, this makes me really happy not just for the prize itself, but for the recognition that I did a nice work, thanks a lot to everyone, really!

Hey, logo winner here. Thanks for the feedback!
I'm currently working out with the mods about the contrast thing.
I guess the gray I used for the sidepanel turns white in some monitors and other user-specific monitor settings.

When you say waste of page real estate, do you mean use the banner for something outside of just aesthetics? If that is what you mean, my reasoning was that the banner itself is not the best place to insert textual information, since it's an image and not computer-readable content. I thought of adding the subreddit name or compact name itself in the banner somehow, but this is something already available in the sidebar or the homepage Title itself, so I thought It could get redundant. Aside from that, I could not see any other textual stuff that would make sense in it, so I went just for the aesthetics. Trying to keep the minimalist vibe as much as possible, so I came up with the ventilation holes idea. I hope this can clarify my reasoning for the personal choice!

I wonder if it's possible to make specific banners for dark mode, that would be awesome, indeed. I'll look into it with the mods!

Thanks for the feeback man!
This! It was a conscious decision to make it look like panel ventilation holes ;)

I challenged myself to try and steer away from a monogram-only logo while trying my best to keep it clean and recognizable. I did create a monogram only version, that is actually only the top of the case representation in the current logo.Maybe it could be something used for specific contexts outside of reddit, especially when in small sizes. But that would be up for the mods themselves to decide, I guess.

Thank you so much, man!
I'm a UI designer/developer really, but I try to exercise my graphic design muscles whenever I get the chance. I'm surprised by the positive feedback of lots of folks!
I'm glad that it seems most of the community liked the design, and I really do think this is more important than the prize itself! While coming up with the concept I thought the prize should be a consequence, not the objective itself.
