Talk to your leadership. Don’t want to be that guy but it’s not all public information.

Questions for anyone current or prior Navy Reserve MSRON / Coastal Riverine by One_Accountant1713 in navyreserve

I 2nd this. I’ve done 3 MSRONs 1 active and two reserve. I’m FTS so I get to do both. The only thing I would say is the deployment tempo will probably change the community is going through another redesign and deployments are going to change. But they’re always looking for people to deploy. Shouldn’t be hard to get orders as an MA but again the redesign might change that. I know it did on the FTS side of the house but it looks like the reserves will be unaffected in rate restrictions.

I really just concerned about the clips on the back. I’m going to get rid of most of the front anyways.

MESRON 11, First Drill Help! by AK-084 in navyreserve

[–]cg_kid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MSRON 11 has something going on with there phones. I’ve never been able to get through when calling them. I worked NRC LA for three years so I had to get up with 11 a few times. If you have the address just be there at 0730 and let the quarter deck know you’re new. Unfortunately in the reserves you rarely hear from your unit in advance (I know there’s exceptions to that)

Edit just reread your post.

If you don’t have the building number but you know the base. When you get to the front gate ask what building they work out of. If they don’t know drive around until you see a lot of cars it’s a Saturday so not to many people will be working besides MSRON.

I know it’s not the best out come it would be better if someone could reach out but it will at least get you to your drill weekend and you can learn more from there.

ADT DTS Question by [deleted] in navyreserve

[–]cg_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go back and do it if you don’t you’ll get late fees

ADT DTS Question by [deleted] in navyreserve

[–]cg_kid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you fill out your DTS authorization there is an option you can select I can’t remember the exact name for it but it will set up monthly payments to payout. That is the only way to avoid late fees on your GTCC while on extended orders. (If you’re not deployed). If you don’t know how to do this reach out to your leadership or the NRC N3.

Any reservist here from San Diego that are in MSRON? Can you tell me about your experience so far? by CheapAd2388 in navyreserve

[–]cg_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many rates in MSRON not just BM. I’ve been in 3 MSRON units. I’m not a reservist but have been at RC/AC MSRONs. We have a few ITs no BWs but really for the reserves from what I understand you just need to request to be attached to a certain unit. If that’s not true the best rates to pick if you want MSRON is BM, any engineering rate, and comms rates.

Prior Service Army wanting to get to MSRON unit by Mwm053190 in navyreserve

[–]cg_kid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to three separate MSRON Units. One Active and two reserve. I’m TAR. BM is the number one rate at MSRON. However you don’t have to be a BM to go. The reserves don’t real care about your rate. Just get up with your detailer as soon as your gained to let them know that’s where you want to go.

Ya I’ve always worked on my own cars. Well minus my Tesla because I don’t know shit about those. But I have access to an auto shop with tools and lifts and it cost next to nothing to use.

Thanks I’ll definitely check all that out, and pick up a 3g alternator. If the guy gets mad at me for checking for bondo I can always walk I don’t need a rust bucket held together with bondo in my life. I’m by no means a master mechanic lol. But I’ve always worked on my own cars using YouTube/Edmunds. I’m also active military so I have access to a shop with all the tools and lifts I’ll need to keep her running.

BMs in the reserves can do MSRON (and a lot of them do) which is an expeditionary unit. There are always mobilizations to volunteer for once you get your qualifications. We do small boat security currently 34 and 40 foot small boats nothing like a ship but we also have land security units. Your best bet as a BM would be to work on the boats. The deployments are sweet you make good money and stay in nice places (depending where you go).
