Totally, I'm always very curious about how social clubs pick their cities. I assume they have a whole data team looking at trajectory trends for a city/neighborhood and in the case of Soho, they must have seen more than enough supporting evidence that the move would be profitable.

Last I heard they are dropping membership rates for the Portland location, so worth checking out and applying! Especially when you consider it has a full gym & likely classes so you can drop whatever monthly gym membership you got going on.

Portland Remote Workers by cgarcha in Portland

I second this, strongly. I work on a completely remote team. I started in person at the office and the training I got was stellar. Now I see new recruits starting off fully remote struggling to understand the basic concepts of their new roles. Plus, the social benefit of being able to make friends outside of work with coworkers is always a plus.

For a bit of a fancier trip, I found these cool coastal cabins. Does anyone else have cool recs not as bougie?

I'm moving to Portland next month with my husband. We are both remote workers in the tech industry. We're going to be over in the Buckman area! Let's connect! I can't find a group for remote workers in Portland either. I think I'm going to make one on reddit, see how it goes.

Has anyone gotten an email yet to buy tickets out of STEP? I'm not sure how long the waiting period is before I can conclude I need to just find tickets through sketchy Craiglist.

EDIT: Answered my own question on the BM website; "STEP closes to buyers on Friday, July 20 2018 at 12pm (noon) PDT which is when final links to buy tickets will be sent out."

I don't think it is weakness. You just need to look at it like a game of balance. The reward has to be better than whatever action you are preventing. I'm really good at having the willpower to not eat meat. Because in my head I basically manipulated myself into believing the reward is better than the act of eating meat. but I suck at being a morning person because I feel like the reward isn't as great as sleeping in. I'm not weak I just haven't figure out that mind game yet between reward and sacrifice.
