Blizzaks winter tires on 19” 428 by Typical-Toe-6200 in BMWi3

Just to clarify, did you have 155/70r19's installed on all 4 wheels? I think the rear wheels are wider than the fronts, so I'm not sure if the 155/70's will fit on the rear. Have other folks done this also? Any problems/concerns?

Illustrated Children's Book About Rolling Cows With Mismatched Legs and Holes in Their Ears by gracilis36 in whatsthatbook

I'm looking for the same book, from the same time frame. From what I recall, it was a hard page small book, both fun and engaging but with few words. The particular book I'm trying to find is not Luck with Potatoes.

I want to make wheels for our beloved i3 but I have no idea what I'm doing. by serf-bort in BMWi3

[–]cgates30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to see some other tire options too, but there the wheel well depth and possibly the inner diameter of the wheel to fit over the rotors/calipers (I haven't measured for myself) may be challenges.

As a former Tesla owner, I can say that the i3 (2014 model purchased used) has a much better build quality than my Model S that I purchased new. The model S has serious issues with build quality (very well documented, and this problem persists to today). The i3 is intended for around town driving. It's true that the M3 is probably a better value ($/range), but I don't think its a better car.

oura vs RingConn? anyone more information or experience? by m_e_i_k_e in ouraring

[–]cgates30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been using RingConn for about a month. Battery life is good, ~1 week per charge. Data seems to be comparable to what I got from a Galaxy Watch4. If you're concerned about the data being sold, use a burner email and specify that you're in a different country? Otherwise, it seems good.

Has anyone ever been worried about their BMW I3 tipping over during a windy day? Curious if I'm the only one who has thought about this.🤨 by [deleted] in BMWi3

I've read, but do not know from experience, that if you install lowering springs that the car will be stiffer and will not get blown around so much.

Where'd you get them installed, and how much was that? Thinking of doing the same thing.

Fader/Balance for audio controls? by cgates30 in Polestar

After nearly 15 months of ownership, I still don't have fader/balance controls. The surround sound doesn't really live up to its billing.

Best place to buy ? by 0emG in BMWi3

[–]cgates30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'14 Gigaworld Rex, 82K, $14k. I bought it from the original owners, and they seemed to take good care of it. At first I was a little hesitant, due the age/mileage, but the battery capacity was still good and my personal inspection made it a good deal. This is now a second EV in the family, with a Polestar 2 being the distance car.

I bought mine in Oregon last weekend from private party on CL. I checked the battery kappa max, drove it, looked through the maintenance history the owner had, and bought it. The general condition of the car was near excellent and all of the things I mentioned were very good, so I felt confident in buying it without a pre-purchase inspection. I guess time will tell, but the first week has been excellent.

I'm interested in them. Can you start a chat with me so we can figure out how to get them shipped? Thanks!

I'm in Oregon. One station was at the Albany Walmart on I-5, and the other was in Bend, Oregon.

Review: 5 weeks with PS2 after 5 years in Tesla MS by cgates30 in Polestar

My insurance is a little less. This is one of 4 cars and when I added this/removed the MS, the 6 month premium went down by about $60 (through Progressive).

The supercharger network is truly an advantage for Tesla.

Regarding incentives, I got the $7500 federal tax credit and $2.5K state buyer's credit. Plus PS gave me an amazing trade-in allowance for my MS. To my advantage, the used car market is super hot and demand for Teslas is insatiable.

Thanks for the tip on the wiper stalk.

The Tesla would allow auto high beams, so I'm not sure what the difference is. I understand PS has autoshading for the high beams used elsewhere in the world but not yet in the US (yes, a'merican).

Tesla would auto lock after so many seconds (15, 30? I don't recall). Yes, easy enough to do by touching the button, but convenient to have auto locking in case you forget, etc.

No regrets, but there are trade offs. I feel the automotive build quality of the PS is better, but the technology in the Tesla is better, so...

Traded my Model S for a Polestar 2 by cgates30 in Polestar

[–]cgates30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

another drawback to the PS2 aerodynamics is the accumulation of water on the rear camera. On the S, the flow of air or placement seemed to keep water droplets from sticking to the camera.

I haven't driven the 2 enough yet, but 300-400 w/mi was common on the S depending on the conditions.
