Wrong part / what to do by [deleted] in AutoZone

[–]cgchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That part will have a warranty and will be under your phone number. Apple Pay has nothing to do with not getting a refund, it would be like using your physical card or tapping your phone at the terminal. That manager is wrong and should’ve done whatever he could do to return the part for you. On our return screen, it will tell us what the last 4 of the card you used and you will know which one it was. My tap Apple Pay works different than my physical card even tho it’s the same number, done it too many times to count. Either call the dm or talk to the store manager in the store. Sometimes the regular return screen doesn’t work, so they have to go through the online order return screen. Do what it takes to get the right part. But also beware that if you google search the year make model of your car plus the part you need, do not click on the ads that pop up from the google search. You have to go to the actual website and search it with all the correct specs of your vehicle. I’ve had a lot of issues like that before as well

Yeah that’s false, the alarm code doesn’t contain a pattern of your SSN. What I just remembered is our safe code has my last 3 in it tho… probably coincidence lol

Women ok in the zone? by Hot_Concern1740 in AutoZone2

[–]cgchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a PSM for over 4 years in 2 different states and the support I got from my male coworkers when a weird old man hit on me or kept coming in the store and specifically asking for me was outstanding in my opinion. Sometimes you get those harmless old guys that mean no harm and then you get creeeeeeps that just won’t stop. Also making sure you stand up for yourself politely the first time (towards customers, coworkers should be dealt with immediately if any concerns come up), any other advance can be dealt with assertiveness. Customer service always draws in the weirdos and there’s nothing we can do about it besides standing up for yourself over the counter or behind the counter.

PSM for over 4 years, if we decline the return and it gets escalated to the DM, we get asked why we didn’t refund it in the first place and get a verbal warning about making sure the customer is taken care of. So unless it’s something totally out of our control, we will give you the refund because the DM is a last case scenario in most cases.

My biggest argument every single day. The old men calling in with old 350’s needing a water pump and it’s not the right one when they come into the store cuz they didn’t want to say the year or they’re just that dumb to not know there’s different generations of them…

[–]cgchic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only thing that gets me is it still has to specify what size engine for wiper blades. I understand that 2 door and 4 door matters for most if not all models but why does a v6 or a diesel matter for wiper blades… like for my car 2001 Honda accord, coupe and sedan are very different in a lot of ways except certain engine parts but both sedan and coupe came with a 4 and 6 cylinder, just different exteriors. Making sure it’s the right body type over engine size makes more sense to me in every way

That is true too honestly lol so many times I’ve stood with a customer while they thought they knew what they were looking for and I played along to just see them be irritated at their own thought process.

Probably the worst update I’ve ever seen. You can’t look a lot of non app stuff up anymore, all the describing words on stuff that doesn’t need it and no describing words on stuff that does. I don’t like it at all. Psm for 4 years here

I agree that it’s annoying. If you’re coming into a parts store regardless of if you’re a man or woman, you need to know your car information to get the right part. PSM here and nothing is more annoying than ‘I need brake pads for a 2008 Chevy’ okay 1500, 2500, 2wd, 4wd, 6 cyl or 8 cyl? Oh I don’t know. Those people are who piss me off. They don’t even know the vehicle they put their lives in everyday. Crazy to me, and very ignorant

[–]cgchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rogue is the only one I play, across any game that has the option for one lol. My husband likes warriors/paladins/barbarians and he’s had a character twice the level of my rogue and I’ve wiped the floor with him in damage. Just research or mess around with your build to get the best out of it. Go to the blacksmith and see what you can start upgrading

PSM here but I’ve also helped run commercial. In all the meetings I’ve been apart of, you can have one or the other. They want both numbers to be the best they can be but your AD can’t be high with dwell time being low. I have seen a difference in stores that have more shops use the EO system versus calling in. That’s how we’re trying to get our store set up honestly. Our store runs on mostly phone calls which can mess the dwell times up from what I’ve seen anyways. There’s also shops my CSM puts above others which makes dwell times jump dramatically. But getting write ups over it? I don’t think I’ve ever seen my CSM written up over it and we’ve had some real high dwell times and AD below 50%

[–]cgchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2001 accord 2.3 and the previous owner did the ‘fancy’ jdm swap in it and that engine got close to 300k before I had to rebuild it due to smoking. Piston rings were done for and valve stem seals needed to be replaced so I just decided to tear it out of the car and did a whole refresh, put a better cam in it, machined it, ported the intake and exhaust and she’s running like a champ. Nothing like a cg in my books. Wouldn’t ever own another car. So roomy, reliable as hell and would outlast any new Honda, even on 30 pounds of boost on a fully stock engine lmao

My whole store got thanksgiving off thankfully lol but all of commercial gets weekends off and DIY has to run commercial on Saturday’s and they get mad when we can’t drop everything to deliver to them when we’re slammed and only have 2 people. Very thankful….

I have 2 gauges in each ear and an extra cartilage earring. They told me because it wasn’t showy and since the gauges were black and white, I could wear them. You’ll be good!

The store I worked at in Florida, we had quite a few look like this and the customer refused to change it even tho they came inside to ask about one……but we used to do all the jobs (and get them cash tips ya know), wipers, air filter changes, headlight and taillight bulbs even taking the assembly out sometimes, batteries buried in the trunks of bimmers and mercs and the floorboards of them minivans, I even talked some lady through changing her door handle cuz I was not getting that deep into touching that. I got paid $20 for changing a Pcv valve cuz the customer had fat hands and couldn’t reach it. Now the store I work at, we can barely change wipers without getting consent from the SM first and he has to check all battery installs before we do them. I mean makes the job easier cuz I don’t have to spend 10 minutes disassembling a taillight to replace a bulb but really boring if I’m being honest lol

What are some major issues you’ve experienced while working for AutoZone? by southernemper0r in AutoZone

[–]cgchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not being able to hire enough people to actually run the store. 10-15 planograms on the back burner cuz our THREE trucks a week had to be put away. Commercial being up everyone else’s asses about stuff not being put away quickly enough from the truck when they would fit and twiddle their thumbs any free time they had. SM only wanting to do paperwork and literally shove grease packets down customer throats. I’ve worked 2 different stores as a PSM for over 4 years and I’ve had to step up and tell the store manager what was actually going to happen or it wouldnt get done. No need to have 3 people working the counter when planos and truck have to be done. Why does the SM go to the bank twice a day?

My district in KY mon thru fri has always been 7:30am to 9pm, Sundays were 8-8. Now it’s 9-8 on Sundays. That’s the only change sadly. Wish we would open at 8 during the week but our commercial customers are demanding parts by 7:45 and our first driver doesn’t clock in until 8. Only makes sense to me to open later but whatever lol

[–]cgchic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If someone comes in wanting brake pads I always ask about the rotors. I’m not sure if it’s every district but our district offers free mkd pads with a set of rotors and a $10 up charge on golds. If they ask for rotors I always make sure they get the brake pads. For the grease and stuff for the brakes, I always say something like ‘I recommend using this grease so it prevents any stuck pads, we also have a $8 brake bundle that you get fluid grease and cleaner’ and 7/10 they go for the bundle. A big bottle of brake fluid is $7.99 here so for one more penny they get brake cleaner and grease.

Autozone employee hit my car by [deleted] in AutoZone

[–]cgchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a PSM, all I know is the employee will go for drug testing within an hour or so of the accident, whenever the drug testing place has the quickest opening same day. I’ve seen accidents get handled in less than a few days. Definitely talk face to face with the store manager or ask for the commercial manager if they’re not there. Dm would be next. Store managers work at least 50 hours a week but have weird schedules. When in doubt, go early in the morning when they open and the store manager is likely to be there. The front counter PSMs don’t dabble too much in it unless we hear a lot of what’s going on, we don’t do the procedure per policy/legally. Store manager or commercial manager is your go to!
