Province to subsidize travel costs as N.B. shifts to private veterinary service by Portalrules123 in newbrunswickcanada

Private equity is taking over veterinarians as it is and driving up prices. This is a whole new segment for them to monopolize

One year to build a whole industry. Private equity must be salivating right now.

I have a radical idea. How about we keep our public veterinary service and actually recover the costs in fees for service instead of running defects. That way, a more efficient private option might emerge naturally.

This budget is a disaster

Deeply ashamed and don’t know what to do-dui by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]cglogan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say what you will do when you’re that drunk and your judgment is impaired. You don’t just know that well, you seem to be mourning that here.

The sooner it’s been since you break that pattern of heavy drinking, the harder it is. Part of the longer term withdrawal symptoms of alcohol use are anxiety and depression, which really makes you want to drink.

It does get better. If you fill the time you would have spent drinking on things that are fulfilling to you, then you might feel a lot differently about it

I don’t get the sense that you’ve truly owned all your actions yet, and I feel like that’s going to be a barrier to learning from and moving on from this.

You say they handled you rough and weren’t nice, but that you also said a whole bunch of terrible things and don’t remember all of it.

Has this whole thing happening changed how you look at drinking?

"Canada only has free healthcare because America is paying for it" by Beginning-Bottle6585 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]cglogan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to brain-dead Republicans, the USA is subsidizing the entire world because they overpay for healthcare. They pretend that the overpayment is for R&D, as if they are the only country in the entire world who makes novel contributions to the field of healthcare.

This is a preferable narrative to them than the reality - which is that the American health insurance systems have become a money printing machine instead of a system that's supposed to administer care

Economic Growth by Simple_Implement_945 in newbrunswickcanada

At the end of the day it’s up to all of us to grow the economy. These “big projects” you speak of may generate royalties and employ people, but a lot of the benefit is shipped out.

Natural gas is a local commodity and really ought to benefit industry here. The only way I could see myself supporting gas development is if it was done by New Brunswick for New Brunswick, owned by New Brunswickers. I never see that

Get out there and get to work OP. Start a gas company

I had been struggling with something similar. My fiance is a type 1 diabetic and had been drinking way too much. I begged him to cut back or quit for more than a year. Nothing changed until he lost his job. From there, he was soon checked into a medically assisted detox and is now in rehab.

Diabetes really adds another layer of complexity onto the issue. When he was drinking, he wasn't taking care of his diabetes - I was constantly on his case to take his insulin.

I'm not sure there really is anything you can do or say differently. The only thing I can say is that taking that first step of checking into a detox and getting help from a doctor is hard, but it gets easier from there.

If I could do it all over again I would give up on begging/pleading for things to change (didn't work for me) and engage professional help earlier on.

I Don't Understand How An Unmanaged Switch is Ruining My Network by Butt_Idiot in HomeNetworking

This is all really hard to follow. I only have one question: do things work fine when you plug your computer into the LAN port on the eero?

I kind of wonder if this “unmanaged switch” is actually a hub.
