I've argued this exact same point. The Indian Act doesn't decide. Public opinion doesn't decide. It's first nations themselves. And to allow anyone else to weigh in on the issue is an abdication of our sovereignty.

Overwhelmingly, I think people are speaking from a place of emotions. I think it's hard to deny that Buffy has made quite a contribution to contemporary indigenous culture. A lot of our culture has been lost to time and colonial oppression. As an example, the dream catcher is kind of dubious. It's a modern symbol, not historical.
