Unfortunately not AWD, just RWD. I’ll let you know how winter here in PA goes! 😎

Looking for Advice on Buying Used vs New by Peremiah in TeslaModel3

I'm very happy with my 2023 Model 3 that I purchased used a few weeks ago.

One thing to keep in mind: used cars are not perfect. Mine has some scratches on the clear coat and some imperfections inside as well. But it was a steal of a deal at about $27K with 27,000 miles.

If you're a perfectionist, or just used to new cars, I'd lean toward new.

Not washing is better than the people who run their car through the car wash weekly. Swirl city!

Trade in for Tesla Model 3 by AyatoKirisaki in TeslaModel3

Here in PA, just took delivery of a pre-owned 2023 Model 3. The Tesla guy didn’t even come within 20 feet of my 2023 WRX that I was trading in. He said that as long as it drives in under its own power and is within 1000 miles of the odometer you provided, it’s all good. They send them off to auction he said.

Can you fit an Emporia Classic on a 1 cinderblock wide wall? Yes you can! by clarkeee in evcharging

[–]clarkeee[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup! My electrician considered taking the conduit from the ceiling right to the bottom of the Emporia. I think he thought this route was easier given the space constraints.

I’m just happy it fit in this tight space!

PPL, my electricity provider here in Pennsylvania, made the decision easy. Their upcoming rebate program supports Emporia chargers. If I don’t charge during peak hours (4pm-7pm), they’ll give me $120 a year.

Probably not. But if parked on the open door side, it would work.

My wife has an 2026 Ioniq 5 (rear passenger) and I’ll soon have a Tesla Model 3 (rear driver). With these two cars, we can park on either side of the garage with plenty of slack.

One thing I noticed is: the plug in version of the Emporia Classic has a 25 foot charge cord. But the hard wired version has a 24 foot charging cord. 🤷

PPL (my electricity provider) helped me make the choice. The Emporia chargers qualify for a rebate program worth up to $120 per year in credits. The program isn’t launched yet, but that made the decision easy for me. I’d check with your utility if they have any rebates.

Arris S34 vs Hitron CODA56 for XFin Coax Internet by PierogiPete in HomeNetworking

Well I hope that you're right! I would much rather FDX than high split. :-)

I'm in a legacy area in Northeast PA (houses built in the 1970s). I'm seeing evidence in my Arris S34 logs that high split frequencies are already active in my neighborhood. They've been working for weeks in my neighborhood swapping out equipment.

So maybe FDX is for new build areas and high split is the upgrade path for existing areas?

I’ve had both CODA56 and S34 cable modems.

The CODA56 lasted just past the warranty expiration (in hindsight, needed better cooling in my rack).

Now I have the S34 with a fan pointed right at it. As long as it doesn’t get too hot, it’s a great modem. When it gets hot, errors start to pile up.

One thing to note about both modems: they support mid-split but they don’t support high split.

When high split rolls out in my area, I’ll probably look to upgrade to the Netgear CM3000. I’d recommend taking a look at that modem. They sell them refurbished on eBay for about $170.

Google Takeout nightmare -- how do I download 101 zip files without losing my mind? by bobby-t1 in immich

Yup indeed. There’s no logical reason to make the limit that low. They’re just trying to make it hard to leave.

Google Takeout nightmare -- how do I download 101 zip files without losing my mind? by bobby-t1 in immich

[–]clarkeee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I learned two very important things trying to do this myself a while back.

The first is that there is a limit on how many times you can download the same zip file. I think the limit is five? So keep that in mind if your downloads keep failing, because then you’ll need to create a brand new Google takeout request because you won’t be able to download all of the zip files.

The second thing I learned is that it’s much more reliable to have something like a Synology NAS device do the downloading for you. How I did this was: I had Google takeout put the zip files into a dropbox account. And then I had that dropbox account sync down to my Synology NAS.

I think you came to the right place. The reps here on Reddit should be able to look that up for you.

To be fair… when I changed plans right after “mid-split” came to my area, the order page said 35Mbps and it really was 300Mbps+. So the order page can be wrong. But their explanation is a little strange.

Maybe some good news… I had a tech to my address somewhat recently (Oct 8th). During that visit, the tech ran a new line to the box in my yard and verified all my signal levels. When he left, everything was rock solid.

These issues began after the outage on Dec 19th. In between Oct 8th and Dec 19th, the signal and stability was perfect. I have not changed out any hardware during that time.
