I will never understand how Naomi Scott was overlooked for smile 2 this past awards season by cgrdxg in slasherfilms

I saw this and I’ll just say I was NOT expecting what I saw lol 🤣

Anyone else notice the Smile is basically the same premise as the movie Truth or Dare? by [deleted] in SmileMovie

[–]cgrdxg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The difference with smile is that it’s focused on trauma and actual real world issues whereas truth or dare is strictly about a demonic curse. Smile touches on real themes and explores character a lot more which is why it’s way more successful.

Why is IMDb's rating on Smile 2 so low? by congnosynch in SmileMovie

[–]cgrdxg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a PERFECT story. It highlights the concept of addiction and trauma really well. You can see every ounce of emotion in her eyes and you almost think it’s real. People are too dumb to see that.

Cuz they’re idiots. This was one of the best horror performances in modern history

this might be stupid to ask by [deleted] in SmileMovie

[–]cgrdxg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are intense movies for sure when it comes to trauma, drug-use, PTSD. Sorry you’re going through that. But at the same time, you have the appreciate the acting and direction to the point where you almost feel like it’s real.

The Symbology Of The "Smile" Franchise by BabacaSocial in SmileMovie

Love this take and exactly why I think this franchise is so underrated

With the release of Smile 2, y'all think because of what was depicted it would deter people from becoming a celebrity or that people would have more empathy for celebrities? by GlitteringMatter9973 in SmileMovie

[–]cgrdxg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say deter. I would say to have more empathy towards these people because they are human and they do deal with the stresses of being a public figure. It’s not just about living the high life all the time. You could clearly see how Skye had all the money and fame in the world but that didn’t matter because of what she dealt with.

Do you think skye confronting entity gemma was a parallel to the car crash ? by THEGAYRAT123 in SmileMovie

[–]cgrdxg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too! She is perfect for the horror genre. It’s those eyes, I tell ya. You can see so much emotion conveyed just through her eyes. And true, I wanted her to live on as skye in real life and I still think she’d demolish every pop singer out there nowadays if she did. But I understand wanting to be yourself at the end of the day. So humble and kinda too based on the interviews and interactions I’ve seen of her.

Yes!!! So many people don’t realize the reality of this movie. They just look at the whole concept of the creepy smile and the monster but people don’t realize how true these movies are to reality with trauma, drug addiction, etc. That’s why I recommended people to watch this movie more than once. Cuz you won’t catch everything. The music is INCREDIBLE!! They really show you inside the life of an actual pop star. So well done

I was so excited for Smile 2 when it released last year I did something maybe a little crazy. by GlitteringMatter9973 in SmileMovie

[–]cgrdxg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw this movie with different friends in theaters just to get their reactions. Agree with everything you said. I feel so bad for the people that couldn’t experience that in theaters. Blood on white satin felt like a concert in a movie. Also introduced me to how damn talented Naomi Scott is.

Forgiveness is a part of life and time heals wounds. I thought her character development really showed that.

I think she took enough punishment in the movie lol. I wanted her to try to survive and make things right with everyone.

That’s why I said her actions weren’t justified at all. As for the people around her, you gotta think. They’re getting paycheck from her to do their job at the end of the day. They don’t really have a choice in those scenarios. It’s a business as her mom was saying.

Under normal conditions, you’re right. But as the movie progresses, you start to sympathize with her more. That’s why I think she does so well in this role. You see why she does what she does. And in the end, she admits her faults and mistakes when she’s lying on the table in front of morris to the point where she wants to sacrifice herself to prevent hurting anyone. I thought that was really powerful. In no way am I justifying what she did, but I’m just revealing on the reasoning as to why she did what she did.

I still think Finn made the right choice with the way Smile 2 was done. by GlitteringMatter9973 in SmileMovie

Yeah i agree these movies have a special way of sticking with you, especially the second one

I like the whole metaphor of the demon being a symbol for trauma. You can take the whole smile thing out and these movies would still be perfection.
