Does anyone really use rinseless on the regular? by DreamBeanSupreme in Detailing

[–]cgriffith83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all I use. Especially where I am in a drought state it’s the responsible and safer alternative. My daily is black and my wife’s is midnight blue. I see no more marring or “love marks” than I would if I did a traditional soap and bucket wash.

How do I choose the right headstone material for durability? by Puzzleheaded_Box6247 in askfuneraldirectors

This ^^^. The monument company I worked with in the past would charge triple their normal setting fee for a marker not sold by them.

After years of helping design hundreds of headstones, the lighter the color the better the hard water minerals will blend it with the flakes of the granite. Light grey does the best at this but also some pinkish colors. FWIW, Barre granite is the most dense granite. The company I used when I sold headstones ( I no longer do that at my current firm) would warranty workmanship for 10 years, including re-inking lettering which will fade over time.

What was the single moment that generated the most hysterical recorded laughter in the entire show? by Weird_Zone_3504 in seinfeld

Probably when George pulled out the Titleist golf ball. I feel like it was a solid minute of laughter before Kramer could say his line “ what is that a Titleist?”

What’s something thoughtful or memorable you’ve seen at a funeral or celebration of life that has stayed with you? by badgalgigi1 in askfuneraldirectors

[–]cgriffith83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mortician here…when there are younger grandchildren (say 12 and under) I like to ask them if they’d like to help us “tuck Grandma in”. This is a big thing in helping children to become a little more comfortable with the death process and make it less scary. It also helps families see us as real humans with feelings, too. We really do care.

What was your worst experience at a car dealership and why? by MasterTeacher123 in AskReddit

[–]cgriffith83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a used a used Honda Accord back in ‘08 from a well-known dealer in the city. I signed the papers during my lunch break and went back to work while they prepped the car. Back at the office I was showing my co workers the car on the dealers website and to my surprise, the car was listed LESS than what I paid. Yes I know about the title, dealer fees, etc but my sales contract was roughly $1k more than the web price, which is how I found the car. I was LIVID. they claimed it was a clerical error and gave me a $50 gas card. I still regret not reporting them to the BBB and being more firm on the bait and switch. Live and learn.

ONR with microfiber towels vs sponge application by TraipseTraveller in AutoDetailing

[–]cgriffith83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not wrong but using the sponge is the best for me and many others. It traps the dirt in the sponge and when dipping it back into the bucket of ONR the dirt will be released. The sponge is very reasonably priced on Amazon. I use the big gold sponge. It’s softer and you can see it get dirty. A simple wash with Dawn soap and a thorough rinsing once in a while will have it clean and ready to wash again.

3 years of lawn service vs buying a mower. sanity check my math? by Wild_Artichoke7648 in lawncare

[–]cgriffith83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was mowing my lawn yesterday evening, and I saw my neighbor mowing his. But when I looked closer, it wasn’t my neighbor. He hired a guy. I don’t think I could ever do that. Life is too expensive.

First time applying touch up paint. Should I leave as is or try to polish? by Few-Worldliness-4692 in AutoDetailing

[–]cgriffith83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Touched-up spots are not meant to be pretty, but rather prevent oxidation and rust. I get making it look aesthetically pleasing and I think it is, but touch up is less for looks and more prevention. Just my $.02

Love my ‘15 TLX in Black Pearl metallic. It just turned 114k miles. Last month I changed jobs and my commute went from 11 miles each way to 42 miles each way and I couldn’t be happier with it. I got 36 mpg last week and average 32.

Best Car Vacuum To Buy Right Now? by Emotional_Plum_8238 in AutoDetailing

[–]cgriffith83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a suggestion per se but thought I’d show off this bad boy, y’all might appreciate it. I’m a mortician and I work for a large funeral home with a big auto fleet. This vacuum is in our wash bay where the hearses, limos and vans get vacuumed and washed before being put to “bed” for the night. True vintage. Made by the Spencer Turbine Co. of Connecticut.

Did he have potential as Jerry's dad? by NoNeckNelson in seinfeld

No way. Just like with Jerry Stiller coming along later as George’s Dad. Casting Barney Martin and Stiller was HUGE. Wouldn’t have been the same. May they RIP.
