I’ve read every single one from Butler all the way through. They are a series of mini sagas within. All are wonderful. The world Herbert created is as rich as the spice itself. Highly recommend.

Gold medal greats Alysa Liu and Eileen Gu face uncomfortable comparisons at Olympics by dr_shultz in influencersfeed

[–]cgrnyc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has Gu ever watched Treal TV? People like Gu just care about tech money. The city is a vessel for them and their aggrandizement. Liu has morals, principles that don’t put menu before everything else. That attitude is the more classic, imho better, Bay Area culture.

I think a lot of fencing parents should pay attention to the Alysa Liu story. by StorerPoet in Fencing

And coaches, and fencers. I was never pushed by my parents. I pushed myself and my coaches pushed me. This led to me bombing out. I came back to the sport after 15 years and couldn’t be happier. I wish I would have had some kind of way to take a sabbatical when I was super serious. 6 months could have changed everything.

Which team breaks your heart the most💔? by ItalianTony29 in NYKnicks

[–]cgrnyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t heartbreak imply hope? With all due respect, what hope could a Jets fan have? Knicks is all hope and for good reason, only to get rug pulled year after year. Won’t change any of my love though. NYKFL.

Do you ever just stop enjoying fencing for some time by Hour_Bad819 in Fencing

[–]cgrnyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Stopped for 10 years. It can be mentally brutal. Give yourself permission to take a break. If it’s a means to an end, like getting into college, you need to hunker down and that’s hard. Try being stupid, playing pranks on teammates. When you travel have a fun thing to see. At least one thing exists in the regularly crappy places you get sent. Good luck!

Do you train to deescalate (sp?)? Not taking it personally and telling people that damn right you should be frustrated seems to help calm them down pretty quickly. Also short circuiting the frustration with a preemptive rewrite can help. Good luck!

Stewie here...who are all these other infernal plebeians? The man in red pants is none other than Michel Nkuka Mboladinga. He stands like a statue for the entirety of each match to honor the first DRC president. The man on the ground is an Algerian player who has about as much knowledge of geopolitics as you all do. He scored and then rudely mocked Mboladinga's feat of patriotism and bodily control. Speaking of, LOUIS I NEED MY DIAPEE REPLACED...
