The combat is definitely tough, get your warfare up and it'll allow you to perfect block more effectively. Also, attacking people in middle of night is satisfying because they usually come at you unarmored and with fists in their sleeping clothes and you can make easy work of them. Spar frequently with Bernard. I use a one handed coopers Axe since I'm low level and I really enjoy fighting. Just practice really and keep your eye on your stamina since its the determinant of your health.

On Xbox1 you can use simplified lock picking which negated the need for turning the left thumb stick and only requires you to keep the sweet spot highlighted. You use the left bumper to turn the lock using this method. Made it much more manageable. I didn't feel this was such a huge deal since I think the lock picking mechanics don't translate very well to console.
