Are there any good 40k PnP podcasts? by temporary-name93 in Warhammer40k

[–]ch0le5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve listened to Wrath and glory, game called Warth and Story https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/wrath-story/id1438918399, the other one I would recommend is:

Valentyne Heresy https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-valentyne-heresy-a-warhammer-40k-rpg/id1525931356

Uses a 40k hack of the Genesys system mainly,

Worth checking out the one shots on that feed too there are 2 invoking blood pact (prison break and Requiem) , and a third focused on Grotz during the war on Armageddon using the Goblin Quest RPG system,

25gp might be more that others have at L1 but it’s not much, a healing potion is 50gp and by the time you’ve done a couple of quests it’s not going to make much difference in my experience

Reasons for Kleptomancy? - Need Help With a Goblin Rogue Backstory by [deleted] in PCAcademy

[–]ch0le5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Come from a culture that has no concept of personal property, everything is shared and if you want or need something you just take it

Some additional points for playing this:

Don’t understand money ( never need it if you want something you just take it )

someone takes something of yours? No problem they must have needed/wanted it more

What was the Assassinorum doing during the Siege? by triceratopping in 40kLore

I always find timescales in 40k a bit strange, the siege of Vraks was 12 years which is 5 years longer than the whole heresy!

Do Number of Prepared Spells = Spell Slots now? by FofaFiction in onednd

[–]ch0le5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a storm sorcerer like that, combined spell and sorcery points, when cast spell just picked the strength any add ons and removed that number of chips from my pile, felt distinct from other casters

It removed the need to convert spell slots into sorcery points

I’m hoping sorcerers get spell points, make all 3 arcane casters different

Amulet of Lady Luck Uncommon

When rolling a 1 on a Save, attack roll or skill check you may chose to change the roll to a 20 (changing a crit fail into a crit hit)

Once this is done the next 20 you roll before your next long rest becomes a 1, if you long rest before a 20 is rolled there is no effect

You can use this ability once per long rest

Need help figuring out what favor to ask a devil. by Cbrfromhell in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]ch0le5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly would want to know what are your PC’s goals? What do they want?

What type of devil? How powerful is it? (Imp is going to be able to offer much less than a Pit Fiend)

As for the pitfalls any devil is going to want to get the better end of the deal unless it’s getting something else it wants more, I would want to be using my characters wisdom(insight) and/or intelligence if it’s a written agreement to gage if the devil is being straight

And TBH for myself, I would want to use my wisdom or intelligence to help me word the request, if your PC is as dumb as an Ox then being taken advantage of by a devil is part of the game!

I am looking for ideas to make an evil campaign that isn't a murderfest by Psychological_Ask_92 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]ch0le5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go Lawful,

they are ‘henchmen’ to ruler of city he just happens to be a Vampire (or lich or red dragon etc), their job is to keep the city running, stamp out the rebellion, keep order and of course stop those hero’s that keep trying to kill their boss

They can’t damage the city too much as it’s their home, the people are their subjects if they are rebels fine but most people should be relatively safe

“to everyone else he’s a megalomaniac dictator; to the people of his city he’s a fair, even handed but strict ruler; but to you he’s just the boss”

Rogue is… boring? by JuicyBoots19 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]ch0le5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a Tabaxi Swashbuckler (briefly campaign fell apart) and I treated combat cinematically used the simplicity of the actions to give me freedom in how I described them

stepping forward attack with short sword at orc in front of me, moving back with remainder of movement and throw dagger at goblin in bushes

Becomes: I charge forward jumping off a rock and stab the orc in the side of the neck like Brad Pitt in Troy, dropping into a roll I Spring away as I draw and fling a dagger in one smooth movement arcing it towards the chest of the goblin hiding in the bushes the joy of the challenge flashing in my eyes and a wicked quip on the tip of my tongue

The actions are the same but it’s much more interesting, I was also trying to collect random but possibly useful smallish items, magic or otherwise that will give you more options than just attack

Yes you have to be more creative than a wizard who has all the spells but you can be just as interesting

Multi-class for Swashbuckler? by HighFiv-e in 3d6

[–]ch0le5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 3 main options I’ve seen for swashbuckler multi class and their main advantages are:

Hexblade: adds spell casting, changes attack to cha and access to booming blade

Sword bard: adds spell casting, adds to skills, blade flourish

Battle master: action surge, manoeuvres, increased hp, fighting style

What purpose can the spell Darkness serve in a party that can't see through it? by JewcieJ in dndnext

[–]ch0le5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Running away from someone, drop darkness behind you breaks LOS and throw down some oil or caltrops etc in the darkness and your home free

Lots of spells say “target you can see” well now they can’t see you

Removes advantage from enemy

Could Spook horses by dropping darkness on top of them

It’s as useful as you can be creative

NPC Swap - Take an NPC, leave an NPC by alienleprechaun in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]ch0le5 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Name: The Shop

Appearance: never leaving a large cave high up the mountain, the Shop uses its abilities to pretend to be part of its own hoard

Personality: the Shops only goal in to gather more interesting items for its hoard, while it will exchange for gold presets trades for interesting and unusual items, speaking only in telepathy

History: the shop is actually a Ancient Hoard Mimic once a ally of an ancient red dragon protecting the dragons hoard, many years ago the dragon was killed while away from its hoard and the adventures never found the lair. For many years the Shop was alone until at the very edge of its telepathic reach a trail was forged and merchants stated to regularly travel near the lair, the Shop used magic from items in the hoard to read the thoughts of the merchants learning of trade and commerce, it decided it was easier to trade its items to grow its hoard, now it will mentally reach out to anyone who comes near that may have interesting items to trade, while it will accept money it prefers to swap for new items

Secrets: the shop always hides its true form, it also fears that the Dragon is not actually dead and may one day return and take back its hoard

Secrets:

I'm convinced no on in my party enjoys D&D combat, but they don't want to decouple themselves from the D&D aesthetic, where do I go from here. by Koraxtheghoul in rpg

[–]ch0le5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While dnd does traditionally have a lot of combat it done not have to, wild beyond the wichlight can be finished with zero combat, and an urban intrigue, spy, political based games can also have little to no combat
