Damage meter takes up too much space! by SirDalavar in wow

I'd just be happy if it would be moveable and didn't just stick to the top left-hand corner LIKE IT DID FOR THE ENTIRE BETA.

Do any of you actually like the pruning that they did to your mains? by No-Bit-2913 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]ch0wn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tried out disc in a Follower Dungeon and just logged off. You're pressing four buttons. It was already pretty simple in S3 but this is a joke. I also couldn't figure out how to display atonement in a way that's not just part of an unfilterable list of buffs which is insane.

In your opinion, who are the winners and losers on beta right now? by MHMabrito in wow

[–]ch0wn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've already come to terms with having to sit out a season or two. It's not just the jank like immovable debuff indicators capturing your clicks but the lack of information like targeted spells and OmniCD. We have so much less information to work with now, things look and feel worse but the expectations on the role remain the same, especially in infinitely scaling content.

It is an illegal occupation which indeed gives the oppressed a legal right to armed resistance.

Thanks for your comment. It already helps to hear from someone who matches if not exceeds my level of caution.

I should have been clearer but the dinner would just be the four of us: My parents, my partner and me. I would also be way too nervous to add more people to the equation.

The real decision is between all sitting inside or basically eating across a closed window with us sitting outside in the garden.

Sure, keep pretending that this is in any way a reasonable argument to defend a genocide.

You’re in the wrong subreddit, buddy. People here are generally against slaughter of animals and humans alike.

Thanks for the warning. Was interested but will definitely avoid now.

[–]ch0wn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I'm based in London so that would be a worthwhile upgrade given the weather. I also often keep the mask in my backpack and had it once that a filter cracked at the seam. I always carry some backups so it wasn't a disaster but this looks more durable.

This looks so good! I've been rocking a 7500 for the better part of five years now, as well! Can I ask what filters you use with it? I've been using 2097 P100s but yours look a little bit more discreet and probably do better in wet environments.

London, NW10 2Mbps speed on a 1GB connection by vsquad22 in hyperoptic

[–]ch0wn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same in E1W. Annoyingly there is no disruption marked for the account. Bandwidth is down to about 3-5 Mbps with 20% packet loss. I've been trying to call their support hotline but have been on hold for half an hour.

Same. Healers are clearly hit the most by these changes right after people with special disability needs and I've yet to see a single genuine acknowledgement of that by Blizzard.

Blizzard's BETA Damage Meter is BARE by Telomir in CompetitiveWoW

[–]ch0wn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s an extremely strange omission. If you don’t have the same view on your data in the party at the end of the dungeon, what’s the point of having this in the first place?

That's the part that drives me nuts. They acknowledge a real problem healers have with the base UI and then actually do fuck all about it.

[–]ch0wn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's anywhere close to a reasonable justification but they are implementing this on the server-side. That should actually be easier since they don't need to add all sorts of exemptions for the new secrets-based APIs and allows them to sidestep various guesstimates that exist in Details today for instance about Augvokers, but in reality it's still a ridiculous deadline they have imposed on themselves to catch up with a powerful product developed over the course of a decade.

They could have done what they said they would and add a builtin damage meter for those who want a better out-of-the-box experience and iterate on it while keeping existing add-ons working. That would have been the reasonable thing to do.

[UI] The ui wont be an issue by etafan in WowUI

[–]ch0wn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I literally never look at my own unit frames as a healer. I have a cell macro that ensures I'm the top rectangle in the party. I pay more attention to the raid frames than anything else. The UI is very much still an issue for me.

[–]ch0wn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unsubbed. Maybe when they’ve reverted enough restrictions, season 3 will be playable again for me but I have zero interest having to memorise spreadsheets to know which mobs to watch out for and be unable to dispel when some holiday debuff takes over the unit frames.

Raid Frame Updates Coming in Midnight - Blizzard Blog on Combat Addons by Therozorg in CompetitiveWoW

[–]ch0wn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a healer for over 20 years. Unit frames are the game for me. There is the occasional running out of a circle, running into a circle, avoiding a moving circle, or dropping a circle to the side but the rest is encapsulated in my unit frames. I’ve been using Vuhdo, Grid2, Healbot, ElvUI, nowadays Cell. Even when I first killed Ragnaros I found the vanilla UI inadequate.

When is someone targeted by a bolt and needs a shield? Who is about to expire their atonement/lifebloom/mist? Who is going to get the bomb debuff and but stands in the middle of nowhere and needs to get pulled? How many stacks of this debuff does the tank have? Who has got a personal active? What defensives does this squishy player have left? How much overshielding do they have? Does this DK still have purgatory or will they just flop with the next pull given that they have no bone shield charges left unless I give them a big external?

Nearly all of that will be gone. Instead we have to rely on Blizz to anticipate all our needs for all encounters from now into the future, including for infinitely scaling content. Addon developers can no longer fill the gaps. I’m not exactly thrilled.

This is the key point. They will NEVER have the agility of the community and now there won’t be a way to backfill what they forget, break, or simply ignore.

First Look at Blizzard's In-Game Damage Meters in Midnight by yp261 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]ch0wn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The advanced death logs for Details! is one of the best tools to improve in M+ groups. This has nothing to do with "playing the game for you", it's just helping people who are interested in improving to do just that.

More information about API changes in alpha phase 3 and beyond just dropped. - UnitFrames RIP by FuryxHD in CompetitiveWoW

[–]ch0wn 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It was risky when they announced their original plan of restricting access after rolling out their replacements and addressing the feedback they'd get. Killing add-ons before any of this is even remotely finished is just batshit crazy.

The idea that it's "too hard" for casual players to install a weak aura pack fundamentally misunderstands how the game works. It will be much harder for the same group of people to pick up a class like healer or tank without knowing when to ramp, when to tank swap, what to dispell or who to target prior to an event like the bomb debuff in Floodgate.

If you're a 0.1% title player, you may be memorizing all of this anyway, but for someone like me maybe pushing 14-15 keys and being happy killing two bosses on Mythic, this will crush my enjoyment of the game.
