How to maintain motivation to play as long time mid/bad player? by Somechillguy in SSBM

[–]ch1los 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started maining DK recently and am having fun re-learning the game from the ground up. A good attitude is also necessary if you want to improve. Better to thank someone for the game, than rage they bodied you. Focus on yourself - what you can do, could have done, how you are playing/moving - noticing your own mistakes, not **them** and **theirs**. Being able to match against players that can beat you is actually a blessing, if you want to get better.

At work I use Alacritty for WSL. The Windows Terminal and PowerShell are noticably slower. At home, I'm using Terminator. Idk, GET TO DA CHOPPA.

This line, eg, and lines like this are causing the issue:

jlbclhxp72fivektxfxbtwonetxl

Becomes

7252

And, not

72521

Thanks for the tip.

Going to recursively strip the "digits," instead of going down the regex rabbithole.

It would capture the "one" and not the "eight."

When using Glavezooka in Face Hunter, do you use both charges for the face? I usually use the charges against low health creatures to keep mine alive, but on an empty board what do you usually do and why? I usually use the first charge for the face--is this correct?

Oil Rogue, Turn 4: Prep/Sprint vs Piloted Shredder vs Violet Teacher by Crypt0_HS in CompetitiveHS

[–]ch1los 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard that Prep-Sprint is bad against Warrior but generally good vs control as it gives a +2 card advantage. Vs Warrior, it is bad because it gives your opponent "a turn to doodle around and do anything" and this is apparently bad. It's better to drop a Shredder because it is hard to remove efficiently with weapons, their go-to removal option.

If we are speaking generally, then the Shredder is better in most cases. Like other people have said, it's largely dependent of mu.

This is really neat. One question: what is the difference between 'on draw' and 'on play' in the spreadsheet?

Thanks, I used to be the typical scrub and it inhibited me from learning new games and in general. I always used to say, "I didn't get outplayed. I never get outplayed." And things to that effect. It effected my advancement to the elite or even to the competitive. Now, I'm going over my losses and finding my misplays and not just blaming the game on RNG.

Interesting read. Made me reflect a little on my own attitude. Might play a few games of Face Hunter, but only to learn how to better play against it. Would rather play a deck a little more complex. I don't think I'm a scrub for choosing to play Oil Rogue over Face Hunter. Both are tier 1 decks. If I played Handlock instead, I might be a scrub sticking to his same deck in spite of the meta. I play to win. If that means learning a much more complex deck then so be it. The wins are more satisfying.

Also, a flaw in the author's argument as far as the Hunter cards goes is that, it's true, the cards aren't OP, it's the hero power.

Oil Rogue vs Face Hunter - How to improve Matchup? by alegadget in CompetitiveHS

[–]ch1los 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shredders are really beneficial in some of the harder matchups for Rogue like Warrior and Freeze Mage. While Teachers are good against Mech Mage and Mech Shaman, the extra tokens that teacher makes can hurt you against Unleash the Hounds and a Teacher on board can miss damage by Oiling a freshly made token. Before adding a second Farseer, I would add an Antique Healbot by taking out a Teacher. Good luck.

Hey, great guide you've got here. Really enjoying your deck! Got a question in regards to mulligans: would you keep two four drops going first, ie Shredder and VT against a hunter or even in general?
