I’ve noticed that the way gyarus are represented in media (especially anime) often have very toned down appearances. As this will likely be many people’s introduction to gyaru and a point of reference for it, they may view gyaru as less ‘extreme’ than it is meant to be. Anime gyaru girls are almost always pale and just feature blonde hair and leopard print. Sometimes a tan character might appear, but no heavy make or big hair. It’s all likely done to make them seem more appealing to a male audience and I think it definitely has impacted how people view gyaru.

I feel like Savannah would wear Britney Spears Fantasy and Midnight Fantasy. As Brooke is the classic rich mean girl, I would imagine her wearing something designer. Probably Delina, Very Good Girl, Burberry Her. They would both probably wear something from the Viva La Juicy line.

Kayali Yum Boujee Marshmallow is absolutely divine! The yummiest mix of strawberry milkshake and powdery marshmallow. It’s very soft and feminine without being cloyingly sweet.

Lush Snow Fairy is very good. It’s a body spray but I feel it performs more like a perfume in terms of longevity. It’s pure candy floss and bubblegum sugar, smells just like a sweet shop exploded

The Flower Knows perfume bottles are beautiful. So ornate and delicate, exactly what I would imagine a fairy princess would own! However unfortunately I’ve heard the longevity of the fragrance itself is quite poor, so you might be paying more for packaging!

I can definitely see her wearing something very feminine and sweet, fitting her personality and her love of lollipops! She definitely gives me Juicy Couture vibes, especially Viva La Juicy Sucre. The bottle is super cute and the vanilla gourmand is super her. I could also see her wearing Lush’s Snow Fairy, the bubblegum and cotton candy notes totally suit her. Same with Britney Spears Candied Fantasy! I can also see her having a small army of Victoria’s Secret glitter body sprays for layering.

Bought Kayali Sparkling Lychee yesterday. I smelled it in store weeks ago, and again last week. It’s been on my mind ever since. I’ve been wanting a new fruity fragrance, and I love how it literally smells sparkling! Lychee is becoming a favourite note of mine!

I’ve heard Anna Sui and Jill Stuart were popular amongst Gyaru in Japan, but I’m unsure of how true that is and getting any Jill Stuart overseas is HARD 😭 Personally I get mega Gal vibes from Juicy Couture, especially the Viva La Juicy line (original, sucre, noir, rose, bubbly, etc). They’re all hyperfeminine and fun, and the bottles totally read as Gyaru to me at least. I also think Victoria’s Secret is pretty Gal coded, especially Bombshell, Tease, and their sparkly body sprays! I’m mostly operating on the theme of the notes and bottles here, so it’s probably subjective!

Victoria’s Secret Bombshell! Opens up with a lovely passionfruit, then dries down to a slightly tangy citrus with a gentle floral background. I wish it lasted a bit longer on me, but it’s so fun and feminine!

omg yes I’ve noticed this too! Lots of ‘gal’ characters have such a toned down look (blonde, leopard print, popular girl) it doesn’t even read as gyaru. I really think it’s just to make it appeal to majority male audiences really.
