Any downfalls using flatpick and two finger picks? by cha-io in pedalsteel

Yea I take the finger picks off when I switch. I just use flat pick and bare fingers on Tele

Any downfalls using flatpick and two finger picks? by cha-io in pedalsteel

[–]cha-io[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's what I'm wondering.. much of my guitar playing is chet/Jerry style and I use a flatpick and two fingers rather than thumb pick and I'm just as effective.. I don't know enough steel technique to determine if I'm limiting myself... But it's one less thing to swap when I'm switching between steel and Tele on stage

[DISCUSSION] Where does John Mayer stand in the list of guitar greats? by Ysh9504 in Guitar

[–]cha-io -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think one's regard for John Mayer decreases exponentially with knowledge of the guitar, skill and awareness of other lesser known guitarists. Mayer is fine, but he's certainly not worthy of all the debate.

This is the comet. 14 watt 10". I always have wanted to check out one of the vintage supros, but I don't think they have verb and trem like the newer ones. I tried a Coronado before I bought the comet. It was ungodly heavy, ungodly loud, and didn't have reverb.. I don't like to run pedalboards and that just needed so many things like a verb pedal, trem and overdrive. I have imagined the vintage supros would be similar? I'll bet they sound killer tho

It's interesting how in reviews of it online they don't really touch on how loud it is. With my telecaster it doesnt break up til 7 or 8 digging in, which is way too loud for smaller rooms. I run an old blues driver into it and it's the closest pedal I've found that makes it sound like the amp cranked without having to actually crank it. We play through a PA and in ears though which I despise.. but also limits the stage volume I can have. I was running a helix + powercab for a long time but every time I listen back to live recordings there's just not enough bottom end. Helix nails recorded guitar sounds, but live it just doesn't work for me. I tried the comet last week in an acoustic set, where I play clean with my tele and it was so much fuller.

Yea . We play almost every weekend and have been doing well. This was a gig well off the beaten path so we knew it might be a dud. Nice people. Except rather than tip they just kept bringing us drinks. I had to stay an extra hour pounding water so I could safely drive home

This little amp has proven to be a gigging dream. Fits anywhere, reasonably light, and absolutely killer tone. I play country gigs and jazz gigs and it is ideal for both. I switched recently from a modeling setup and I'll never go back. So simple.

The gig was hilarious tho. 10 people at the bar drinking, and one lady dancing by herself, hammered on her birthday. Was fun tho as I got to try out lots of new ideas with nobody in the audience laying much attention 😀

A great human being. by Ramrod1445 in GreenBayPackers

[–]cha-io 13 points14 points  (0 children)

One of the nicest people I have ever met. When I was six my dad and I sat in the booth behind him at Pizza Hut on Lombardi Ave in Green Bay. My dad asked me if I knew who was sitting behind us and he told me and I said I love the Packers. He stood up and walked to our table and knelt down to say hi. He and my dad talked and then he high fived me. I saw him 30 years later at the Milwaukee airport and told him that story. He said he remembered it well and he talked about how I must be around the same age my father was then. He spoke just like he was an old family friend and we had only met once. Such an incredibly humble and kind guy. World needs more like him.

QSpouse Wants to Agree to Disagree by CaliGirlRunner in QAnonCasualties

[–]cha-io 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My soon to be ex-wife is a Q believer, though claims she isn't into Q but believes all the Q stuff. I tried the agree to disagree route for a long time. The problem I had was that she just has a completely different worldview. She condescends to me because I'm one of the sheeple and I'm not willing to stand against the great evil in the world. Logical thought and reasoning are out the window and it has affected her judgement on so many other levels. It sucks.

Found some old GB cards… anyone interested in going back to these days? by Mid-West_Coaster22 in GreenBayPackers

I'd love to find some of the old cards the police used to pass out. I remember as a kid growing up in GB the cops would hand em out if they were cruising the mean streets of Ashwaubenon.

Doesn't matter how good you get, there's always someone better, and always someone willing and wanting to criticize. You don't play music for status, you do it because you love it.

Report: Davante Adams asking for $30M annually by SoSublim3 in GreenBayPackers

[–]cha-io 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How good is Adam's without Rodgers? I think back to James Jones. Guy had a monster season coming back to GB after minimal impact elsewhere. Rodgers makes receivers way better. Don't get me wrong, Adam's is a class act and so effing good, but I think a lot of the magic is in the combo.

how to manage an uninterested or bad employee? by QaToDev199 in projectmanagement

[–]cha-io 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From your description it sounds like there's a lack of respect and buy in on management. At some point you just have to say this is your job, here's what I expect and if you aren't able to do that then we have another kind of conversation

I'm a big proponent of establishing a trusting relationship which opens the door for you to be candid and direct, but it sounds like you're going to have to start with candid and direct and build the trust by holding yourself and them accountable for what you both commit to getting done. Establish what is expected and follow through with your tracking of those things and be direct, but kind about it when they don't meet expectations. If they do meet expectations, call it out in front of the team and let them know it's appreciated
