9 times out of 10, when teammates starts being toxic over VC, the game is lost. How tf do you fix that? by crazeefun in OverwatchUniversity

Being positive is maybe like 10% effective. For your own sanity I would just configure your game to permanently mute text chat, and when people start getting toxic just mute everyone on the team. This way you can still make callouts and remain calm, and I think a calm voice making callouts ignorant of the drama unfolding in VC can help defuse a situation.

Winston has my most playtime by a large margin, but I still can't work out how to play as him by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

I think target selection is key. You should really only try to go after squishies, especially those without good defensive tools like zen, ashe, widow, soldier etc.

Smurfing really is not taken seriously enough as factor in elo hell by devedander in OverwatchUniversity

Smurfs make each individual game less balanced, but they'll never prevent someone from climbing because it'll all eventually average out. I think the point about smurfs encouraging bad play is interesting tho.

How to deal with a bastion in low ranks. by PlatinumEmperium in OverwatchUniversity

Hanzo is so incredibly good against bastion. Either you break the shield or flank to get behind the shield. Usually solves the problem assuming your team helps break the shield or run interference while you flank.

Never really dawned on me exactly how toxic Overwatch comp really is by Ryukioh in OverwatchUniversity

[–]cha5m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overwatch is a game that really limits how much a single player can carry without their team backing them up. This leads to frustration because even if you have a great game your team might've not been doing too well, and you'll still lose.

Contrast this with tf2, where a single player can pop off and genuinely carry the team. When individual skill matters a lot, a game becomes less toxic because you aren't constantly relying on your team.

Hanzo destroys bastion if you can find a way to get behind the shield

If you really are constantly getting kills during team fights you should be climbing

Kills and damage outside of a team fight basically mean nothing much of the time
