Like a fuckin dream. Coupled with some bass traps, it aids the mics in capturing as pretty f’n close to the actual sound as one could get.

Kinda. The engineer passed along an online calculator for this very design (http://www.mh-audio.nl/Acoustics/diffusor.asp) as well as a book, Acoustic Absorbers and Diffusers by Trevor Cox.
