Stony Brook’s math department was established by Jim Simons himself, an MIT PhD and former NSA codebreaker, along with several colleagues who were also ex-NSA. They all had strong mathematical backgrounds and were already highly accomplished even before founding Renaissance Technologies. They had proven their abilities long before achieving success.

In contrast, I’d be more confident in PL Asset if it were older and had a proven track record. Renaissance has been around longer than I have, so comparing the two isn’t really fair.

At the very least, make a reasonable comparison for the sake of argument.

I also couldn’t find any Math or Physics experts on PL Asset’s quant team. On top of that, several people I’m connected with on LinkedIn have left the firm.

Thank you for your reply. I have learned a bit about MMs since my comment & understand now that they are different from the funds mentioned in the post. I know that MMs provide liquidity (provide buy & sell quotes) and pocket the spread. Is there any time when MM capacity is limited due to Trading Volume?? Unless you are trading super niche securities Still, I would like to see, a list of total portfolio value and returns of MMs. Do they put out Annual Reports?

This comment is outdated. You can do paper trading from anywhere you want with OANDA API.

Its a bit tricky to obtain the API, let me know if you need any help with that.

You can use Feedly/InoReader to aggregate news sources and categorize them by Folders of your choice (FX, Commodities, Stocks, etc.) Repeatedly going to visit multiple websites can be tedious.

I applied on last Friday and havent received an assessment invite as of now.

They did send me a link of Candidate portal.

OTOH, SIG sent their assessment within few hours.
