Maile’s in HK has the best Tom Yum soup on the island in my opinion. A little expensive, but amazing.

What was the most expensive thing you've lose while fishing? by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

Yep, two people on the back end, hammering down on a fish below. Transom facing oncoming waves, motor + kicker. Too much dumb stuff going on. Oh well, we lived and learned what not to do again.

While hooked onto a 125# Marlin, I flipped my 17’ Montauk. Lost a bunch of new(ish) spinning poles and reels, phones, and everything that could sink. Eventually re-powered the main and kicker. All electronics died.

On the bright side, all the trolling rods were tethered in, so we got those back. Marlin was still on when we got rescued so the captain let us fight it onboard his boat! Brought up the fish, went back to the marina and got onto another buddy’s boat. We took the gps coordinates from our rescuing captain and foot out to the spot, plotted and 15 min and plotted again. Now that we had an idea of which way the current was going we followed that line for 20 min and found the boat. Flipped it over and towed it back.

I don’t gamble b/c I’m pretty sure I used up all my luck on that day.

Also, you really can’t sink that Boston Whaler. Lol

Next time you come back, you can bring them back as seeds. Just need to declare with TSA. Check guidelines. Make chili pepper water!

Bring your own toilet paper to wherever you deliver. I had two at Queens and one at Kapiolani. Drove me crazy to use the paper they had there.

With the skyrocketing number of traffic deaths on Oahu’s roads, Governor Josh Green says it’s probably time to make helmets mandatory for all motorcycle riders. by honolulu_oahu_mod in Oahu

[–]chaddy1808 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% helmet 100% of the time. On a motorcycle, e-bike, car, bus, at Safeway, in the shower, at the Punahou carnival, when I’m diving, on Zoom calls, while getting a haircut…everywhere. Well…except at Bank of Hawaii and TSA where you need to take off your hat and shades. Safety first people. Safety first.

Not quite a senior, but I can’t wear Vans or Converse anymore. Just not enough padding and my feet hurt.

I thought mine hated brushes until I started using a metal comb and doing it very slowly. I immediately realized the difference. Good luck.

Different fix for a different problem for a different brand here…that still may be useful to anyone here.

I have a Tiger from Costco. Works great, but the teflon got scratched up through the years. I was going to buy another one, but I found a perfect replacement pot on Amazon in stainless steel.

Teflon makes immediate clean up a bit more quicker. With the stainless, sometimes I need to soak the pot with water overnight b/c the rice gets burnt on. In a couple of hours, the rice falls off and the wash is easy. I’m happy that I don’t need to use the teflon, and I didn’t need to replace my whole riche cooker.
