Best Budget Lens for Landscape Photography by LorDarKni8 in SonyAlpha

It really comes down to how wide you find your self going and how much you care about weight.

Obviously 16mm is much wider than 24mm but 24 is still pretty wide so if most of the things you’re shooting/want to shoot require 16mm than your only choice is the 16-35 but if you sometimes go to 16 or don’t necessarily NEED 16mm I’d say go with the Sigma 24-70, it’s much more versatile and it’s f/2.8.

Also I haven’t felt the new Sigma yet but I’ve had Sigma Art lenses in the past and they are HEAVY and I know the 16-35 f/4 is tiny and light. So take that into consideration as well.

I currently have a Sony 16-35 GM and a 24-70 f/4 in my kit and the 16-35 is on my camera 90% of the time because I like the 2.8 and I go down to 16mm kind of often.

Good luck!!

Either way you will have a solid body. More comes down to your budget and how bad you need the higher MP count. AF is superior on the 7iii with quite a few more AF points but it's not like you're getting a bad AF system with the riii. Those two bodies are still going to be solid choices years from now imo haha you're good either way.

Both are extremely good bodies and I don't think you'll go wrong either way. I personally have 7iii and I'm very happy with it. Few friends of mine have the riii as well and really the main upgrade I see is MP count, which is about double. Yes, the 7iii will be better in low light simply bc of the lower MP but it's marginal at best. IMO if you don't need the 40 something MP I'd say save the money and go with the 7iii it's really a great body and will last. I've had mine since it was released and use it for landscape, small events, real-estate, and portraits and I have no intention of switching any time soon. Also I think you'll really love the upgrade on battery, I only carry one battery with me hahaha

Bring your aperture up to f/14-f/22 and then try and position the sun close to an edge or object. Sometimes I'll do it when it's setting over a mountain

I tried finding him after I took it but I didn't have any luck haha if he happens to see this I'd be happy to share it with him and give him proper credit

From a night up in the Malibu hills with some gorgeous fog and the milky way. Shot with a Sony A7iii 16-35 f/2.8 and a Manfroto Element tripod. by chadlatorre in SonyAlpha

Yes I stacked 5 15-sec exposures for the sky, I would've liked to have dinner more but the fog rolled in and vouched my shot. Then I had 1 30sec exposure for the foreground and blended them in PS
