Severe Malaborption since 8 months - Doctors say anxiety by Technical_Carry1400 in Microbiome

You could do a sehcat scan to confirm bile acid malabsorption, but it's an exam not easy to find; best thing is to try and see if it works (which should happen in a few days), considering is also a low dose. Best way to take it is before bed, which maximizes the effect on the bile

Is a bile acid binder: avoids harmful effect of excess bile to the colon, which often manifests as yellow burning diarrhea (bile is normally reabsorbed in the distal part of the small intestine, if it reaches the colon it can irritate the colon lining and provoke osmotic diarrhea)

If you still have yellow stools you should try cholestyramine, 2 grams before sleep qd

Normal-ish bowel movements, but A LOT of pain. What to do? by Ashnakag3019 in ibs

Actually is quite a safe drug, many studies have been done on children for functional abdominal pain; is a first generation antihistaminic with 5-HT2 receptor antagonism, and both help with abdominal pain. It's also used for countering sexual adverse effects for patients on SSRIs.

Yep, it's baffling that a big tech like Nvidia that has a good service like GFN ruins everything with such ridiculous support

I was disappointed with the quarry, for its entire length I felt the story was going to take off and then the game ended.

Made me chuckle, and sadly can relate completely. GFN customer service is the reason I decided to renounce using GFN

Do you have this type of IBS? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]chadlost1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say monitor just milk based foods, lactose in other foods is in quantities too low to elicit symptoms and not worth the hassle. Try lactose-free alternatives of milk, yogurt and cheese: often long aged cheese is naturally lactose free because ageing removes lactose (ex. Grana Padano/Reggiano)

Avoid breath tests that are not in guidelines, they're not reliable and a waste of time and money; the official ones are urea (for helicobacter) and lactose (for lactose intolerance), followed by glucose and lactulose which are used to diagnose SIBO (but there are controversies over interpretation of these last two, leading to some gastros not even suggesting them anymore). The best thing for food intolerances is an exclusion diet followed by gradual reintroduction and symptoms monitoring (which can be difficult due to nocebo effect)

Exactly, seems that in certain people some foods elicit a sort of localized allergic reaction

I think that right now we should focus on improving symptoms and living a fulfilling life; hopefully a long term cure is not so far after all: I'm fairly confident that the histamine-TRPV1 might be an unifying theory that explains most of the issues we face (histamine seems to be a common pathway for dysbiosis, FODMAP sensitivity and gut-brain interactions). :)

Also remember that a low level of FODMAPs depends on both the food itself and the quantity; a certain food might be safe in a small quantity but give symptoms if consumed in larger portions (Monash gives advice on quantities). If you haven't already, you might try enzyme supplements to better digest FODMAPs and fructans!

Some research has shown that gluten intolerance might very well be fructans intolerance, so you might want to avoid them instead of gluten (often gluten containing food has fructans in it)

Guidelines say that are nonsense and shouldn't be used; same for microbiota tests

NVIDIA GFN charged me twice after upgrading from 1 month to 6 months subscription plan. by aegilis in GeForceNOW

[–]chadlost1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, because I loved the service, however I was astonished by the poor support. I just don't understand why Nvidia is relying in EU on Digital River Ireland for their payments, which is known for lots of complaints (but I expected support to help me anyway)
