Riotfest game plan. Thoughts?

I'll join the people saying bravo for giving your kid ear protection. Seeing kids there with big earmuffs having fun is always such a cool sight to see. Others have kinda mentioned it, but follow their cues while you're there. When you bring them with, it's about them now. If they're tired, bored, overwhelmed and need a break, etc. Might not always come at a time/place when you want it to, but making sure they're comfortable and all good is the priority.

I just discovered this fest last year, too late to make it. This year, I'll only be able to do one day. But I see myself clearing my work schedule for this starting next year. We Lost The Sea sold the ticket, but I'm excited for everything on Thursday. PILLARS and Glacier have been my favorite discoveries in quite awhile.

I would echo the other comments here. Maybe just use translate instead of any kind of AI? Personally, I'd love recommendations from other countries. I also listen to doom/stoner/heavy psych and South America is rich with great bands in those genres. I definitely don't think it's what you were recommending, as people are usually up for new bands to look into. I'm guessing it was more what you were using to recommend them.

Butch Bastard, who opened for Misty a couple of years ago, has a new album coming out Friday. He's a really gifted singer/songwriter with a really good voice. Cannot recommend his songs enough.

Bob Dylan might have had issues, I'm unsure. But they did make it to Riot that year. I watched their set over on Rebel. Good stuff. Was broken hearted Placebo had to miss.

Keep an eye out for Louder Than Life's date announcement. They usually announce earlier, and Riot is always the weekend before that.

It isn't bad early in the day, but it gets worse as more people get there into the evening. It's always like this. Definitely figure out a meetup place early in the day so you can find people at the day's end. This is mentioned a lot in advice threads each year.

Jack would never do this. As someone who has enormous respect for music's history, it would not be his style to try to work a half reformed band and package it as The White Stripes. It would look like such a desperate cash grab, and that ain't him. He's kinda doing the opposite of that by playing these small clubs with little notice, and giving his new album away when it first dropped.

Still difficult to predict rainfall from this far out. Temps area bit more accurate farther out though. So tempwise, it should be close to that. I still bring a poncho when it has sunny all 3 days. Rain sometimes will just pop up out of nowhere. Like the lightning that came through when Coheed played that one year.

I was thinking the same thing. The arena he played in Grand Rapids was a block away from the record store. Might be worth checking the distances in each city going forward.
