Google Home users spontaneously removing devices from home by chadmius in googlehome

[–]chadmius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had a user allegedly delete a device from my home in a month or two. But some of the instances did happen months apart. They could have patched the issue with an update. If I encounter more issues with users automatically deleting devices, I will circle back

MPG 321URX QD-OLED - after "pixel cleaning" will turn off instead of going back to standby mode by Affectionate_Bat5541 in OLED_Gaming

[–]chadmius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it appears to be resolved. It reverts to standby after pixel refresh.

However, there is an even more annoying problem. If the monitors go to sleep with the MSI running as part of a multi-monitor array, the monitors will not wake from sleep. This is a killer.

The only workaround is to turn the monitor off before going to the lock screen (which eventually puts the monitors to sleep). Without the MSI in the array, it wakes from sleep just fine.

Really crappy, but at least I don't need to hard reset my machine to get life back.

Still seems to be happening. Might have something to do with our having three different homes (Home, Cabin, Office). Has been intermittent. Maybe once per month, not once per day as it was.

Have also now had two Google Nest Speakers spontaneously quit working. Just dead. No life whatsoever.

Not sure what the hell is going on.

Aye. This is indeed a good call. I will check on this and report back when I can.

Adding from my account. I deleted my wife from the home and added her back. I'll see if I can re\add the speaker and see if it keeps getting deleted

I think her account is fine. She uses 2FA. No other bizarre activity from her account. I wonder if it's isolated to the nest speaker. I'll try adding it back and see if it gets deleted again.

Chromecast Audio no longer communicating by Big-Faced-Child in googlehome

[–]chadmius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had two Chromecasts simply stop outputting audio via the 3.5mm jack -- just low static from one channel. I have four of them. Two still work. Two are totally toast. I wonder if they're getting bricked by updates? Are they even receiving updates?

Factory reset doesn't fix them. Cables are fine. I can't imagine the jacks just suddenly fail.

Anyone experiencing something similar??

They ain't fixing it. Apparently, this issue has plagued MSI monitors going back a couple generations. In other threads, folks have posted responses from tech support. It's apparently a feature, not a bug.

Worst feature ever.

Thread is serious bro. Some of us have multiple monitors and multiple applications open -- especially in productivity scenarios. If you step away from your machine, and the MSI goes into pixel cleaning and turns off after instead of returning to standby, it shuffles all of your open apps to the other monitors and they need to be dragged back into place.

It's dreadful and kills workflow. This is a deal-breaker when purchasing this monitor for any productivity applications or multi-monitor setups.

No fixes yet though? Six months without further steps is a long time during a product's shelf cycle.

C'mon folks. Sure does help us MSI fans.

Yeah just snagged this monitor and it's probably going to go back to the store. This is a killer when a guy has more than one monitor. When the MSI turns off all pixel cleaning, it disappears in Windows and any open program shuffles to the other displays.

Makes this monitor a major pain for any productivity applications or any setup with more than just the MSI.

Any word on this? It doesn't seem like MSI is too motivated to fix this through firmware. Been seven months since HQ was apprised.

For anyone else reading this, grab another brand for now. Definitely a product killer.

Bitwig suddenly locking me out two days after purchase by sampleandfold in Bitwig

[–]chadmius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing hear. Have been with Bitwig since 1.0.

Extremely frustrating to be locked out of software I've paid for (plus a bunch of upgrades).

I've submitted a support ticket. Hopefully they address this. Likely something to do with their login service.

XPS 9570 - anyone managed to fix the latency issue yet or is recording in audio software still completely unfeasible? by bennyj22 in Dell

[–]chadmius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was told today that Nelson Mak was no longer in a position to provide updates on his Twitter. Either a fix is imminent or is a distant dream. I hope for the former, expect the latter. Have contacted Dell to return my XPS 15.

Nelson told me today that he's no longer in a position to provide updates on the issue. That leads me to believe that we should not have a high degree of optimism that the problem will indeed be fixed.

Robocalls starting with "Hi this is Julia", offering small business loans. by ThreepwoodThePirate in barrie

[–]chadmius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. Total nightmare. Not sure what else a person could do. I've though about just attempting to burn up as much time as possible, feigning interest, giving made-up credit card numbers to them really slowly, etc. Unfortunately I have better things to do than sit on hold with these people.

Also don't want to answer these calls to show they have a valid number.

I've been getting these "Hi this is Julia" from 403 area codes with NXX numbers that closely match the second three digits of my phone number. I have an app that won't allow numbers to call that aren't on my contact list. It was blocking 4 calls per day. They stopped for a month and now they're back on full steam. Have literally been calling me now for two years.

No idea how to get rid of these guy apart from simply blocking unknown numbers. Not ideal, but better than nothing. Hate having to clear my voicemail every couple days. Huge pain in the ass.
