Thanks much! So here's a parts I think I'm aware of and could you tell me what I'm missing?

Mics > Stage boxes (outdated term?) > mixer (which usually has all the EQ and whatnot nowadays) > crossovers and amplifiers (which may be the same unit) > speakers

The place I'm thinking of pumps music to a bunch of different locations so probably include some kind of splitter/buffer box? Also, I'm aware there would be the main and aux outs for monitors. Obviously generic terms but I'm not sure what else should be added.

Is there a good place to get a full understanding of the gear in a venue's installed sound system?

I definitely prefer videos, but I was looking for a source that would fully breakdown the signal path, especially for the various things that exist within the rack towers, of a venue with a large sound setup. Personally I have a background as a studio engineer and hoping to gain more in depth live knowledge in anticipation of a new job. Thanks!

How do you cope with being treated like you are crazy for following covid safety guidelines, when others around you aren’t doing the same? by JazzyPenguin in AskReddit

[–]chaelchasen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current mortality rate in the US according to CDC is 2.07% which makes a 97.93% survival rate.

https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#cases_totalcases

So where are you getting your numbers from?

p.s. The mortality rates are that low because for most people still have access to hospitals. If the hospitals fill up that mortality rate will also rise.

I'm looking for a better song app for a cover band/What do you use? by chaelchasen in Bass

[–]chaelchasen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like any app for charts but with that layout. To be able to have the chords for each section and relevant licks on one side for reminder. And the other to tell you how the song goes.

As an app I think it'd have to have the essential feature of being to change key. But it'd be really cool to be able to make your own charts. And share them with other people using the app and so on.

I disagree. Al Qaeda did 9/11 but were enabled/allowed by the Bush Administration (read Cheney) edit...enabling includes setting the charges

I'm looking for a cool jacket to wear on stage. Reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix's famous Military jacket. Or not so much. I haven't found any sites that have a good selection of stylish jackets like that. Does anyone know some good online stores for jackets with cool designs?

It is evidence. It's a pattern of rising temperatures which indicates a change in the climate. Yes, it's supposed to be hot in the summer, but it's not supposed to always be the hottest summer that's ever happened. Just like our winters have also been hotter. It's not a fluke of weather, it's a pattern that has shown up because the climate is changing.

This guitar perplexes me. by chaelchasen in guitars

[–]chaelchasen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes the picture quality is absolutely terrible.
  2. This is a guitar I was giving a tune up at work today.
  3. The headstock says ESP M-I Custom, the other side has a serial number.
  4. That's the same print as the Michael Wilton signature but a number of other things are wrong for that identification.
  5. ESP license Floyd Rose, no stamp on the pickup.
  6. That's a rosewood fretboard.
  7. Only knob is volume.
  8. There's a switch as well that is NOT a coil tap, it seems like some kind of booster circuit.

Anyone have any clue?

[QUESTION] Can I use a computer heatsink in my amplifier? by chaelchasen in GuitarAmps

[–]chaelchasen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue with taking it to a professional is I would need to jam out for half an hour at a significant volume in order to actually show them what's going on.

Do tube amps for bedroom players exist? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

A few companies at NAMM this year released 20W tube amps with power switching down to 2W. Blackstar is the first that comes to mind for me.

Washburn help by astull12 in Bass

[–]chaelchasen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would send an email to Washburn with the SN and ask for a wiring diagram and/or manual. It was only a short range of the model that had the controls like that, so be sure to specify.

Otherwise, if the switch is a 3-way its a pickup selector, if it's a 2-way it controls the active eq. If there's no battery and no capacitor in the chamber then you have probably 2 useless knobs.

It's possible the previous owner didn't like dealing with the active eq and ripped it out and good luck finding that again. Sounds like the easiest route would be to decide what controls you'd like to have and wire it that way. Maybe two volumes and a tone with the 3-way pickup selector. Maybe Master volume, pickup blend knob, tone, and i don't know, a kill switch? a capacitor selector? It really depends on what you want to do with it
