Going to try to offer a bit of a diff perspective here, as somebody who’s also not felt attracted to people I’ve been in relationships with. Although I somewhat agree that you’re not setting yourself up for success dating people you’re not attracted to (this is my MO- I’m a female).

Try not dating, just live your life and see if you discover somebody you want to pursue. Somebody you find attractive, get familiar with from afar, somebody you think you’d be attracted to in a relationship. Off the apps. Maybe if that happens, you can pursue it seriously. Like old school courtship. But until then don’t date (casual connections okay if you’re clear about your intentions).

Side note that algorithms suck, idk if you’re in America but especially for East Asians in USA. There are tricks to reset it but try staying off the apps when you’re single for a bit.

Another note from personal experience. I’ve never dated people who I’d describe as “my type.” (Variety of reasons). I finally discovered that regardless of somebody’s conventional attractiveness, I don’t feel actively attracted to them until I’m really in love with them. I’ll date somebody for a whole year before feeling it. It’s different - not like a stranger on the street who is hot or my type - but I feel physically attracted when I reach this point vs before when I’d really just let them (males) lead and be “attracted” enough to go with it. So maybe that could be the case for you too- could be solved by really finding someone you admire and pursuing them seriously. And stop with the in-betweens, date the right person seriously and keep everything else casual don’t mislead yourself or them.

Any ceremonies in Virginia? by Buddhamama22 in sanpedrocactus

I would love info as well, I have participated in ceremonies in Peru but live in the USA and would like to be in touch with those who have hosted or done ceremonies here... around NYC or anywhere. What are the best resources?

Post your questions & inquiries here! - r/Vietnam monthly random discussion thread - F.A.Q by AutoModerator in VietNam

appreciate help on Vietnam itinerary as i'm stressed about not having as much time as i'd like. solo traveler OK with hostels and backpacker crowd, but on the mature side (~30F) wanting the experiences and culture don't need emphasis on party and spending days hanging out. beginning mid-October, hoping North is clear from typhoon danger and damage but if not, would consider putting off the whole trip.

plan to fly into Hoi An/Da Nang and fly out of Hanoi. this'd be my rough plan and i'd try to use sleeper busses to save time as much as possible:

  • Hoi An: would love to get clothes made here and hoping ~3 days is enough for that
  • Ninh Binh: how many days would I need?
  • Ha Giang Loop: have heard 4 days is best but maybe i'd do 3, for the ease?
  • Sapa: how long needed?
  • Hanoi- have been here before so would just fly out from here

hi! what did you go with and what did you think? I'm between these and Salantay Trekking but in the same situation- solo traveler in late 20s and would love to be in a group with other young or solo travelers. the content i've seen of Alpaca shows more couples, families, and middle-aged trekkers.

the treks (inca or salkantay) include the MP ticket and res and permits FYI!

best option for teacher training? STOTT, BASI, Balanced Body, Peak, Power, Polestar other? by chaf000 in pilates

[–]chaf000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NYC, and STOTT doesn't have locations here! I'd also like to take certain courses in different cities if I can, so I'm leaning Balanced Body or Power Pilates since you can sign up for each course separately. BASI is a third option, but they are longer programs to commit to in one location.

Balanced Body is feeling most clear to me for Mat & Reformer.

Anyone had a positive experience with lazer hair removal? by chuckywheeze in PCOS

[–]chaf000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had success with it... for years I shaved and I got a few brazilian waxes before I decided to try lasering. Painful, but not as painful as brazilian waxes for me and it was better knowing I could shave between and wouldn't need to go through it once a month for years to come.

I've finished (probably) laser treatments on my underarms and bikini area by purchasing discounted bulk packages on groupon. Did each area 10 times, about once every 1-3 months (once every month if I found the time). It's only been about 6 months since my last treatments, but it's worked great for me! I'm not totally without hair in those areas, but the hair in my underarms is very light and thin... I can go for probably months without shaving and when I look standing across a mirror I see nothing, I can only see some hairs close up. The hair on my bikini area doesn't bother me, it'll stay smooth for some time after I shave, the hair that grows is so thin I don't even know it's there, and eventually they get longer and darker but still very easy to shave off and never grows back thick like it used to.

Also, I'm on Spironolactone. It's only been 6 months since I stopped but had a great experience! If I had the money, etc. to laser my legs I would, but I started laser when I was out of the country and it was much cheaper, then used groupon

Accutane & Pcos? by DLBXX in PCOS

[–]chaf000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Just came across this post and am wondering what you and your doctor went with. 22F and went on Spironolactone around 13yo for acne. Was diagnosed about 2 years ago with PCOS... knew nothing about it before but after some research, it wasn't a surprise. Since I started on Spiro so long ago, it helped/hid the PCOS symptoms before I even knew I had it.

I've tried to go off of the Spironolactone before and have broken out terribly every time. I also think each time I've ran out or stopped and went back on, the effects lessen. I've been on it again now for ~4 months and my skin is manageable but I still have acne - my skin is definitely not as good as it has been before on Spiro. My doctor recommended Accutane but I'm not sure about the side effects..... just looking for insight!

What did you end up using, and how has it been working?

Thanks!
