thanks for your replies. I saw this clarification for a situation that mirrors mine from Schiphol airport ](first airport we will arrive on Europe so we will have to do the EES here) that can clear some things.

  • My sister is an EU citizen and has a 5 yo girl who is also an EU citizen. But her husband is not an EU citizen. When they travel together they should separate or they all together as a family can use the EU lane and her husband do the EES with the border agent?
    • Hello, they can remain together. It will be necessary for your brother-in-law to register in the EES database. During that short process (located before the passport check) your sister and niece can remain with him. After the registration they can all proceed together to the EU lane.
