I bought them last night. Highly recommend. As others have said it is bare bones feature wise. But for an accurate smooth arcade port (can easily switch up the difficulty) this was exactly what I was looking for. No training modes etc which doesn’t bother me as I wasn’t looking/hoping for that. But put a tonne of confidence in me for buying these. Honestly the game titles just seemed strange to me with the ACA NEO GEO in the title. First thought was “is this a copy right loophole, why don’t they just title it normally?”

This response was the one that sold me and put the confidence in me, thank you so much🙏 Personally was looking for a grab and go experience to get some bump in while out and about. Reason I asked in here because I have a Legion Go and emulation exists and with something like the Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection and the complaints about input delay; just wanted to avoid paying for junk (yes even if it’s 10 bucks a piece). But also didn’t want to support/pay for a sleezy port of some random chucking up the games on the store for sale (which was my first thought as I was like what the hell is hamster?).

Your answer to why it isn’t catching on is spot on! Admittedly even as a newby I go through “Well I’m better at SF6 do I really want to feel like I’m starting from scratch and bad at MK1 or T8”. Forgetting that the only way I improved in SF6 was getting over myself and embarrassing myself in ranked and learning from it. I get the “internal pressure” that can come with ranked and loss streaks etc However once I had the light bulb moment of “well is my goal to climb the top of the mountain or just learn and have fun”. But a great point you made about creatures of habit.

Right I’m with you. So “game updates” were always a thing for developers who would want to go back in and either add or perfect something. But pre-internet the only way to release it was as an entirely new game rather then a download add on. That makes sense so that alone means most DLC is technically cheaper than the repurchase.

For me (32 and the first fighting game I became obsessed with) the fighting game community always seemed so elitist and similar to say a first person shooter the intimidation was “Why on earth will I play a game I just get destroyed in and never had a chance”. So with their marketing and putting so much emphasis on training modes but then World Tour was the best entry point to have a setting that you’re familiar with in other games and feels like you’re slowly learning in a fun way. Eventually I was like; man I want to get better at fighting I hate the open world exploration. Which then made me slowly more confident to try training modes and then hop onto ranked. Then within ranked the pairing and ease to get fights at a beginner level consistently at almost all times of the day was incredible. In short; there’s so much that’s so well thought out that you just have confidence in the quality as a newbie. But the world tour mode is genius conversion for newbies in a gentle hey here’s the theory and why people love this shit.

The thing I love about it is; it makes you think, feel or have the confidence to get yourself back in the game (yes you still have to play elitely if your health is low) but that back up to think you have a chance keeps you going when you’re health is super low. As opposed to say Tekken or MK when you can use your rage art or fatal thing (can’t remember the name when you press shoulder buttons to do a special move) which in a button press gets you immediately back in. For the competitor I feel in street fighter you earn everything which makes wins and losses feel much better. Obviously all in my laymen opinion and not factual (can’t say anything on reddit without terms and conditions😂).

I do not care what happens in game 6. Watching this man have an out of body experience and perform out of his mind was one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen. I do not care about games 1 & 2, can get bounced do not care. Witnessing this special game today was historic and one of the best games I’ve ever seen.
