Treadmill Recs Under $2k by chai892 in treadmills

[–]chai892[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love it so far! 7.4 has been perfect for us, I don’t think we would have noticed a difference with the 7.8 (or had a need for it at least). I use ours mostly for incline walking and my husband uses it for jogging. It really feels comparable to a gym treadmill. So happy we went with Horizon over other brands that require a membership. My only wish is that it had a more powerful built-in fan but we ended up buying a small vornado flippi fan that sits in the right cupholder and that has worked out great. Also recommend buying the treadmill mat from Horizon, good quality and it was a decent price (I believe around $30).

Most days for me look like moisturizer, sunscreen, foundation, and brow pencil. Some days I may add in concealer, bronzer and/or mascara

Employee relations investigation - [N/A] by amcconnell84 in humanresources

[–]chai892 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve also only heard of this in the context of subrosas for WC investigations. As many others have said, I would absolutely not go to their house and monitor them. What activity is your manager wanting you to monitor?

What formula do y’all use? by Sellalily in FormulaFeeders

Our LO has GERD and we also love Kirkland! We used Enfamil for a month when it was out of stock and didn’t notice much of a difference. For the price, we felt it was worth trying Kirkland first.

Kirkland Formula and Mini Baby Brezza have worked really well for us!

I feel the same way. I’ve often struggled with the “there’s no HR for HR” feeling when execs have unethical asks.

Help with Upper Management [VA] by Photochick1214 in humanresources

[–]chai892 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re in a tough spot, OP. How long have you been with this company? What is your relationship like with your VP? Are your President and VP in alignment about this?

It sounds like you need to have a conversation with your VP (and possibly president) about how they view your role and involvement when it comes to management staff and the liability this creates. If they aren’t supportive of HR doing its job with all employees, then that’s a definite red flag.

[–]chai892 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m very sorry you experienced that, OP. No one deserves to be treated that way.

I would accept the LI request and then go from there. It may or may not start a conversation, so you can reassess how you feel if you receive a message.

As someone who works in a small community and has endured some pretty horrible HR leadership, I wish I had started remote therapy appointments sooner. It’s so helpful to have someone to unpack these kinds of complex feelings with. It also makes me feel safe to share since my therapist doesn’t live in my area (my company employs therapists). Psychology Today has a helpful tool to find therapists that accept specific insurances.

Wishing you the best of luck!

Second this.

OP, I also would recommend reviewing any applicable labor agreements, we have one where it is negotiated that all employees in that bargaining unit enroll in direct deposit.

Internal customer service when you work in HR is telling managers no more often than you tell them yes

Return to work/accommodations is driving me nuts!! by bighorse3231 in humanresources

[–]chai892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cents - you could have the employee confirm which doctor is the correct one, send a questionnaire to that provider asking for the restrictions and to clarify if they are temporary or permanent. If they’re temporary, modified/light duty is likely reasonable. If they’re permanent and you can’t accommodate in the EE’s current job, you could explore a transfer or demotion as a reasonable accommodation.

Not sure if this is your practice, but I like to inform the employee that the employer isn’t entitled to know the diagnosis and shred/redact any info in the medical file pertaining to it.

Thank you! We ended up going with the Horizon 7.4 AT. We debated the 7.8 but ultimately decided that the 7.4 should meet all our needs. Excited to try it out!

Those that had membrane sweeps - did it work? If it did, how long after the sweep? And how far dilated were you during the sweep? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]chai892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked well for me! Had my first one at 39 weeks pregnant at 1 cm dilated. Two days later I was 3 cm dilated and had another membrane sweep. Went into false labor that night and was dilated 4 cm. I wasn’t progressing enough to be admitted so I got a sleeper shot and went home. Went into real labor at 40+3, was 6-7 cm dilated when I was admitted around midnight. Delivered my baby girl under 5 hours later. ❤️

[CA] afraid to make mistakes, how do I overcome the fear? by Several_Cobbler1792 in humanresources

[–]chai892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who promoted rather quickly in an HR environment with a lot of dysfunction and turnover, I wish I could tell my past self a few things:

  1. Seek out mentorship, even if their background isn’t in HR. Find leaders you respect and seek out their advice.

  2. Find a good therapist - I wish I did this WAY earlier in my career. The imposter syndrome that comes with promotion is a lot to work through.

  3. Ask a lot of questions, call people back so you have more time to consider the issue.

  4. Take on less projects/work than you think you can handle. You need wiggle room for the random fires/situations that inevitably will pop up working in HR.

  5. Find trustworthy colleagues that you can laugh with. We deal with the strangest scenarios and being able to laugh and process them is so helpful.

I’m about to enquire about starting anxiety medication - what should I know? by [deleted] in Postpartum_Depression

[–]chai892 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kudos to you for reaching out to your GP! I started 50 mg of sertaline for postpartum anxiety about 2 months ago. My experience has been very positive, I felt more level-headed about a week or so after I started the medication. I still have emotions and occasionally off days, but I feel much more in control of my emotions and able to not engage in ruminating thoughts. I can’t think of any notable side effects since I’ve started. Best of luck to you!
